Pours a clear, dark amber to brown color with a 2 finger, creamy to soapy beige head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is toast and nutty notes and spicy, grainy rye right away, then nice caramel notes and spicy and citrus hops. Flavor is caramel, spicy rye and chocolate up front, some nutty notes, lingering grainy and spicy notes, citrus, pine and spicy hops to the finish. Medium body creamy feel throughout, but with an underlying hoppy acidic bite, medium, fairly blanketing carbonation. Good stuff overall, nice balance leaning towards the hops, but with a nice implementation of lots or rye character.

Amber to brown in color with a modest sized taupe colored head. Toasted malt and rye scents. Rye and bitter flavors. A bit earthy. 3/14

Can to shaker glass, pours clear deep amber. Two finger off white head, decent lace and thin cap retention. Aroma of rye and pine. Taste is malty sweet, bitterness is perfect for this style. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, smooth mouth feel. Finishes long. Tasting notes of caramel, spruce, pepper, bread and herbs. Good beer.

12 oz bottle pours a clear brown/amber color with moderate and lasting beige head with some lacing. Aroma is full of rye toast with some caramel, grass, tree bark and citrus hops. Taste is slightly sweet with a dry, almost hoppy finish. Body is medium with average carbonation. There’s nothing wrong with this one at all, but it didn’t make me take notice or say wow.

tompete (342) - Tillsonburg, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 27, 2015
Pours orange brown with a beige head. Aroma is rye, sulfur and roast. Flavour is roast malt and hints of caramel with a slightly harsh bitterness. Finish is rich, but bitter.

BrewMaster0912 (49) - Marysville, Ohio, USA - JUN 22, 2015
pours a very dark amber color with a very light foamy head that goes away quickly. It has a bit of a citrus smell, kind of smells like spruce or pine. The palate is a bit dry, like the description says you can taste the malted rye and floral, citrusy hops. overall the beer is a bit strong and not that good.

tmoreau (4579) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 5, 2015
On tap at The Argus in Madison, WI., and sampler served showing a clear, deep amber color, with a presentable layer of tan, head froth, and wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was grain, spice & rye, and touches of roast & earthiness. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, the taste continued similarly, adding some earthy bitterness, with a slight vegetal hint that also participated in the flavor. Interesting concept, but happy to have settled for just the sampler.

Psytron (2444) - Turku, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2015
Smell of grain, malt. Deep red colour, small white head. Aroma of grass, hops. Grass and spruce in finish. Not so much rye to be noted. Very bitter. Sharp carbon, mid-light body. Borderline IPA.

Bottle courtesy cwsample. Pours a dark reddish orange. Toasty nose, rye, spicy, some caramel brown sugar. Flavor is bready, caramel syrup, slightly dusty. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
