COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early German monks created bock beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came blonder styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, weve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.Bock, by the way, is German for male goat. It doesnt make sense to us either.

Tasted at Food and Froth. Not bad, really. Decent entry for a Heller Bock.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 9/16/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of honey, cracker, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Some apricot/apple fruitiness as it warms. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. A little too yeasty/fruity, but not overwhelming. Taste of big honey, cracker, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, cracker, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, pepper, and flora/grassy/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Nicely clean on lager flavors; with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.7%. Overall this is a very good helles bock. All around nice robustness and balance of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and quite refreshing to drink. Really well done for the style. A very enjoyable offering.

This Maibock has a nice malty taste mixed with its rich, bread notes. It's smooth, but not otherwise distinct. It's rich for just a second before it kind of...fades away into malt.

12 oz can.. Heres to finally being off after 15 days work in a row, at a job I hate.

Pours a honey golden color. Pillowy head. Large pockets of bubbles in the head. Interesting. Very clear. Good retention, fair lacing.

Aroma is honey and malt. Norhing else, but that honey smells really good.

Taste is much like a marzen. A little more bitter. Malty, lightly floral hopped. Slightly yeasty.

Mouthfeel is exceptional for a 6.7% offering. So smooth, medium bodied. Creamy even. It woould be easy to get carried away with this. Im getting a final touch of bitterness, way into the finish.

Overall, this is delicious. Very enjoyable. I do recommend this, and I would certainly buy it again. On tap, it must be amazing!

Tap at Whole Foods, Omaha location. Pours golden with a lasting foamy white head. Aroma was sweet malts, bread dough and raisin. Taste was lightly sweet with a slight bitter finish.

Clear golden color, lots of carbonation bubbling up in the Pilsener glass. (A Pilsener glass is ideal for showing off the great look of this German-style lager.) Tall, white, thick creamy-looking head. Recedes slowly leaving thick lacing. Sweet-smelling bready, some spice, fruit aroma. Substantial mouth feel. Initial taste is bread and fruit, not too sweet, plenty of body, very slight bitter in the finish. Smooth and creamy, yet a crispness to it as well. This is very nice... not sure what a Maibock is supposed to be, but I like this one. It has the malt youd expect, with a complexity in the spice, fruit, and doughyiness that remains in the mouth, a creamy body and feel, and a slight touch of bitterness to finish it off. Recommended.

Not a great maibock, but its not my favorite style. Light with a Pilsner appearance. Caramel base, lightly lemony citrus finish.

A week from code. Pours a clear darker golden with a tall, rocky cream-colored head that retains well, leaving some foamy clumps of lace behind. Nose involves sweet honey rolls, some remnants of noble spice, some savory notes, crisp lager yeast. Fairly sweet, somewhat bitter. Medium bodied, fairly oily, decent action, finishing pretty clean with some bready dough and light hopping. Not too shabby. Uneventful in that theres no flavor or aroma explosions, but thats not what this style is about. Just a sweeter, creamy lager. Listed at 6.7% ABV on the bottle.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours clear dark golden, white one finger head, nice lace, some retention. Aroma of light caramel and grass. Taste is sweet with just a slight bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, metallic mouth feel. Finishes sweet. Tasting notes of grass, bread, caramel and flowers. Its OK.
