Cask at Jerry’s. Black with good, frothy tan head / Sweet, cloying?nose of coffee, chocolate candy, oak / Light body, thin, grassy, dry / Weedy, sour flavors of chocolate, dark roast coffee, caramel, oak / As bad as the regular version. Mattj01 (4) - Minnesota, USA - AUG 22, 2012 does not count
Dark color, but not a thick or heavy beer...doesn’t taste burnt. Not heavily carbonated, in fact, a little flat, but still a very good flavor. arminjewell (9727) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 22, 2012
Pour out of cask at Winterfest 2012, pour was nice dark chocolate brown with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of lightly toasted malt, rich chocolate and milky coffee, hints of slight oak, touch of earthy hops in there as well. Taste was a slight oak but really not much, creamy chocolate and coffee notes with an earthy quality, some nice caramel notes mix in to some roasted notes, finishing with a hint more earth. Pretty nice, but not much different than the original.
