UPDATED: JAN 18, 2011 Bottle... Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, beige head. Good retention. The bouquet is very reminiscent of chocolate pumpkin pie - if there is such a thing. Full-bodied and oily with nearly-expired carbonation. Up front, the chocolaty-sweet flavor offers a nice amount of raw pumpkin and subtle pumpkin pie spices. Burnt, carbonaceous bitterness balances things out on the backside - without diminishing the rich, chocolate and pumpkin pie essences. Roasty, bittersweet, lightly acidic finish. Exciting brew from an otherwise humdrum brewery. Bottle courtesy of HonusWagner! DocLock (11189) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Bottle. Pours hazy onyx with 3-finger brown head. Nose is black patent malt, cacao, pumpkin puree. Tastes hoppy, malty, with some cacao, minor pumpkin flavor. phaleslu (10899) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Draft served in a Maudite glass at Global Brew Tap House in Edwardsville. Pours a deep, opaque brown color with a very thick, rocky, foamy dark tan head. Aroma of nutmeg, pumpkin, roasted malts, dark chocolate, nuts, and a bit of cinnamon. Flavor of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, dark chocolate, dry roasted malts, vegetal and earthy notes, and dust. Medium-bodied, with a roasty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Somewhat sweet, too. Not bad at all. DuffMan (10772) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 6, 2012
Did they JUST retire this? Because I just had it on tap 10 days ago @ Radio Maria in Champaign. It came in a shaker pint glass, the dark brown colour of an old penny, and with just a skiff ofa head. The aroma was nice-- sweet pumpkin with just a hint of roast. The palate didn’t quite deliver though. The backbone flavour seemed sweet and cola-ish, with a little pumpkin and a little roast, but overall it was weak and thin. sebletitje (10477) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JAN 16, 2011
Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11
brune foncée, mousse beige
Note d’épice et citrouille qui reste un peu en retrait pour laisser plus de place à l’aspect porter de la bière. Reste légère au palais avec pas mal de malt grillé et noir.
