I don’t know what happened to my rating for this. It’s a really really good pumpkin beer that’s a bit portery, with some cocoa notes and mild roastiness. Solid drink, should definitely be made again...
Grains, spice and pumpkin scents. Black and toasted malt flavors with hints of spices including ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Thicker feel, yet kept light by the small bubbles that carry it across the tongue. A nice porter, with a subtle twist. 7/10

A - Pours very dark brown, nearly black, with a small one finger tall tan head leaving small wisps of lace down the glass.
S - Smells of dark roasted malt, bakers chocolate, light vanilla sweetness, canned pumpkin pulp, and pumpkin pie spices.
T - Starts off a big dose of dark roasted malt slowly giving way to a mix of sweet chocolate and spicy pumpkin pulp. The alcohol is all but undetectable. The finish is mostly just dark roast, lingering for some time.
M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Full feel with plenty of dark roast sticking around through the finish.
O - Not too bad for a cross over beer. I think the dark flavors dominated the pumpkin a bit too much at the beginning but it got a bit better toward the end.
Smells kinda milky with pumpkin spice and some chocolate. Tastes like a pumpkin-mocha-frapaccino, where the initial spiced sweetness is balanced by a bitter coffee character. FullObs (136) - Illinois, USA - SEP 23, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours dark brown. The pumpkin flavor is faint if at all but in all fairness this bottle may have been sitting for some time. There’s a bit of sweetness and just a light spice which i prefer actually. Not too special here but not bad.

Did they JUST retire this? Because I just had it on tap 10 days ago @ Radio Maria in Champaign. It came in a shaker pint glass, the dark brown colour of an old penny, and with just a skiff ofa head. The aroma was nice-- sweet pumpkin with just a hint of roast. The palate didn’t quite deliver though. The backbone flavour seemed sweet and cola-ish, with a little pumpkin and a little roast, but overall it was weak and thin. tokyogoat (1503) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 7, 2012
Bottle share on 1/6/12: A bit light on overall flavor profile. looking for more spice character. A bit light on pie flavors, but overall balanced. nose had discernible pumpkin and roasted malt, but none too bold. overall a good drinking pumpkin beer, but just not for me. Just expect bolder flavors from "imperial pumpkin" emeinz (220) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Bottle to glass. Notes of earthiness and slight spice on the nose. Dark pour with tan head. This beer was awesome. The bottle I held on to wasn’t as good as the first few, but it was still a good beer. Picked up a little bit of chocolate on the back end. No pumpkin, although it was never too prevalent. undsioux7 (876) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - NOV 19, 2011
I must have forgot to rate this one, but it has been one of my favorites of the unchained series. I think the pumpkin spice goes better with a porter then the other pumkins out there for some reason. loafgoat (53) - Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 6, 2011
More spice than pumpkin flavor, noticeable alcohol presence. Smoky finish sticks around but isn’t overpowering.
