3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer had an unusually crisp mouthfeel for a dunkelweizen. Very fizzy, with carbonation more like seltzer water than beer. I found this distracted from the flavor and aroma, which was pretty typical for this style. There was a hint of the banana-like tones. I would not choose this again because the carbonation was too overwhelming...it had a prickly sort of quality. I prefer when dunkelweizen is a bit more smooth and rounded on the palate.
12oz bottle, from Eastgate Jungle Jim’s. Probably not a fresh bottle. Mostly clear dark red / slightly brown color. Thin beige bit of head. Lace doesn’t stick. Medium body. Lighter, but pronounced carbonation. Little thin. More dry in the finish. Some dark fruit, light metallic, acid, light hint of fermented banana. Light to moderate sweet taste, light bitter, light tart, kind of an acidic bite. Not drinking too well right now. nuplastikk (6256) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 26, 2013
Tap at Dexters. Thick opaque brown-burgundy. Thin, steady off-white head. Clove and bitterness upfront lead to a sweet, malty finish. Medium bodied, quite sessionable. Light banana tones, maybe a touch of rye, gingerbread. Not quite on the level of a true Bavarian example, but still enjoyable enough, well executed. Nice dunkel-wize with a the typical banana clove notes. Some good toasted malts, caramel, and sweet malt notes. Not my favorite style, but a good take on it fo sho. beastmaster (381) - Florida, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Bottle, hazey caramel amber pour. This head that faded fast, low carbination. Fruity aroma. Watery and light wheat beer. Not a fan JK (6146) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Had this form a bottle many times. A solid American example. Sweet wheat flavor with some banana and fruit flavor, as well as moderately roasted malt and cloves. Appropriate palate, and light brown color. I can’t pick out any sediment which leads me to believe this is filtered, and I definitely prefer these beers unfiltered.

I'm giving this an 8 on taste cause the thickness of the dunkel smoothness of the weizen combines so well def a different but surprisingly good beer

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of wheat, carmel, light banana and light clove. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of wheat, carmel, light clove and a hint of fruittiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish. mnmike (1086) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Pour from bottle. Found 1 six pack left at an out of the way liquor store in MN Summer of 2012. Complex taste, carmel color, thick head, low aromas. $9.49/ 6 pack youdictategood (467) - Florida, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Single bottle from Total Wine. Pours a very hazy copper with about a finger of off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, sourdough. Taste is a wheat beer without the citrus - a little banana, cloves, and mint. Finishes very dry. Very light body and a little watery. Really interesting - definitely makes me want to try more Summit in the future. rcasta (864) - EL SALVADOR - OCT 14, 2012
