3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy amber with a small head. The aroma is very light on this, as was the body and flavor for the most part. .The candi sugar dried this out too much because of the lack of richer malts. This has a light body and thin flavor for a Belgian strong ale. Drinkable but lacks the full, complex body I prefer in most beers of the same category.
Copper to burnt orange color with a taller head that dissipates quickly to a thin lid of beige tiny bubbles. Sweet floral honey scent. Some caramel and lightly toasted malt scents as well. Sweet flavors with honey and lightly toasted malt. Floral hops hints. A little chunky. 5/12

I had this at Global Brew. Pours a amber with a white head. Taste sweet, Carmel, Belgian yeast. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of toffee, raisin, plum, clove and a hint of earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, fruittiness, light spice and a hint of yeast with a smooth lingering toffee finish. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 20, 2013
12oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours ruby/brown with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some alcohol, caramel malts, sugar, and light floral hops. Flavor about the same. Average to smooth texture. Not bad for an American version of a Belgian strong ale. islay (2805) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 30, 2013
12 oz. bottle. Aroma features cookie, carrot cake, peach, plum, sweet cigar tobacco, carob, rhubarb, and some dryness. Pours an effervescent copper with a moderate amount of taupe head. Mostly clear with slight haze. Produces pretty good lacing. Flavor matches the aroma. Malted chocolate milk shake and tartness in the taste. Medium body. Lively and crisp in the palate. Solid palate effects. Enjoyable overall; it’s a good beer. drdisque (857) - Illinois, USA - DEC 15, 2012
From 12 oz bottle. Pours ruby slightly ruddy amber and slightly cloudy. Not much aroma - of syrup and alcohol. Noticeable alcohol bite. Fairly bright sweet flavor with a well balanced medium bitterness. Pretty good, but not exceptional. nuplastikk (6311) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 11, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 12oz bottle. Had it on tap and wasn’t that impressed. Unfiltered, amber-copper. Soapy, thin head. Just doesn’t capture the essence of a good Belgian beer, so why even go there? Dull, undercarbonated body. Sweet malt tones, some decent depth there. Not much to speak of in the hop realm, pretty not there. Drinkable, not overbearing. Sweet caramel tones, with a fruity yeast balance. OK.
Firkin w/ Chinook dry hops
Firkin at Sugar Maple. Burgundy red body. Steady, creamy beige head. Odd to have an Abbey Ale on firkin, really light and doughy. Smooth and creamy is what this one is all about, the hops don’t really shine. OK, kind of one-dimensional, an interesting mix of UK body and Belgian yeast. OK.

12 ounce bottle pour. Great interpretation of the Belgian style. Not as good as it’s competition, but a respectable effort. Good alcohol content to drink while camping. northropfrye (3643) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - NOV 24, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2012 Not bad, but disappointing for the style. Copper colour with thin white head, quickly fades. Aroma of bread, and a bit of bubblegum. Taste is sweet grapes, bubblegum, malts. The problem is that the bready British pub taste is stronger than the sweet fruity Belgian flavour you should expect, and I I prefer, in this style. Nothing too spectacular here.
