Pours a dark red color. Tons of head, three fingers or more. Excellent retention, excellent lacing.DocLock (11236) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2016
Aroma is of sweet malts, and I do mean sweet. Maybe some cherry. Nuts, like walnuts. Honey and caramel. Perhaps a touch of cocoa.
Taste is more of the same. It’s very sweet, almost syrupy. But there is a touch of bitterness to it, right at the end. In no way is it balanced, or even close, it’s still very sweet. Malts are medium roasted, not too dark. I taste that cherry, and that nutty honey. It’s an interesting flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium full body. Finishes clean, slightly dry. The hops really come in at the finish. It’s pretty pleasant. Pretty well carbonated.
Overall, this is enjoyable. Look at that lacing!! I may be drinking this thing too cold. But, it’s quite good, quite enjoyable. I would highly recommend it.
Squat bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy deep copper toward brown with tan and fizzy head. Nose is caramel, walnut, mild hops, Tastes caramelly, sticky indeed, with syrupy malt, walnut, and a sweet finish with some maple. One of the nuttier beers I have quaffed. Tap at Hessen Haus. Ruby brown pour. Nose of red fruit and caramel. Tastes of caramel, cocoa, berry, toast. Medium bodied slight sticky arminjewell (9744) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 26, 2016
Pour on tap at Crunchys, dark reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toast, bread, hints of spice, grass, some more doughy notes into a bit of grain, very malt forward. Taste was a mix of slight orange, spice into lots of caramel, toast, bread, some slight dough, finishing fairly dry, slightly sweet. Not really my type of beer but well made.

Bottle courtesy of nuplastikk, thank you! Pretty close to opaque ruby maroon head, tight beige head with solid lacing. Aroma of burnt toast dipped in cocoa. Taste is roasty cocoa, toasted caramel, dry finish. Tasty. Minnbrewer (38) - Coon Rapids, Minnesota, USA - JAN 9, 2016
Excellent beer! To bitter for an alt, but I'd rather drink a slightly more bitter alt. Unchained series rarely disappoints...I'll gladly drink this again!

7 oz. pour, on tap at Summit Beer Hall in St. Paul, Minnesota. Consumed on 1-8-16. Pours a clear, medium brown or dark amber with a copper red hue. I do like that dark copper glow. Small amount of beige head. A lot of thin lacing. Fruity, malty aroma. Simple and not particularly likable smell. It’s too sweet and lacks complexity. There is some bitterness in the flavor but mostly toffee maltiness. Flavor is better than aroma. Hard to isolate specific flavors, but they add up nicely. Good base dryness from the hops that lingers into the finish. Bitter aftertaste. Lively enough, frothy, and smooth in the palate. Likable palate effects. Medium to full body, quite full for the ABV. Feels substantial. Not a bad beer, but nothing special. apcamhi (11) - - JAN 7, 2016
Very light beer with malty notes but not a ton of flavor. Refreshing but not my favorite. ads135 (5235) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 2, 2016
One of my least favorite summit beers. Light brownish red with a thick, stale aftertaste. Overwhelmingly bitter finish.
