16 oz can. Had this at GABF 2012 as well and really enjoyed it. Maple pour with a fairly thin head. Nose of dark fruit, raisins, and bready malt. Taste is very malt forward with a ton a dark fruit sweetness. A touch of an acetone flavor. Really tasty and sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap sample. Dark mahogany/purple color with burgundy hues and no head. Aroma of cherries soaked in liquor, port wine, wood and vanilla extract. Super sweet, with dates, cake and beet sugar, low bitterness. Full body, cloying, heavy, complex, hard to drink but a good digestif.

On tap at Haymarket’s Sun King. Pours a hazy deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has grains and caramel with underlying dark fruit and Belgian yeasts. Flavor starts with sweet grains and caramel that last throughout the beer and is backed by dark fruits and light Belgian yeast.

Draft on tap at Haymarket’s Sun King Takeover (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich well hazed brownish pour, touches of orange glow on bottom and edges, touches of copper. A frothy offwhite head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are gentle dark fruit, mellow raisin and plum, carmelized malts, biscuits, and toffee. Gentle yeasty elements, with deeper red grape, gentle touches of toffee grow, vanilla, and spice. Mellow sweetness grows, dark fruit. Toffee and caramel, biscuits pick up. Gentle kisses of yeast, mellow sweetness and dark fruit grow. Gentle black cherry, mellow heat from the abv. A bit smooth and sticky. Lingering red fruit, dark fruit, touches of gentle yeast. Finish is gentle plum lingering, touches of raisin, gentle heat, spice, and sticky malt.

Metallic chestnut colour, little or no head. Vinous nose with fusels, strawberry aroma and sweet-alcoholic smelling. Fusels returning in the flavour; sweet taste with Crème Anglaise, vanilla, alcohol and a vague impression of wood. Very slick, well bodied and rewarding palate. Nice!
