On tap at Haymarket. Pours a clear deep amber red with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has some light flora notes with backing sweet grain and a bit of Belgian yeast/spices. Flavor begins with sweet grains and caramel but is joined by sweet grains, flora, Belgian spices and yeast. A bit muddled. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Reddish pour from a cool ass can! Aroma of figs, dats, belgian yeast, sugar, honey, spice. Flavor is sweet and very nice. I really dig the yeast, dates, figs, raisins, caramel notes of the beer. Nice stuff. Jethro6191 (508) - Indiana, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Pours a ruby color with a fleeting beige head that is almost completely gone after a few seconds. Fruity aroma with raisin and date notes. The flavor is sweet with raisin, prune, date, and grape notes. The body is light and a bit thin. A cloying sweetness coats the tongue and mouth leaving a fruity aftertaste. The carbonation is very low. The 8 % abv is well hidden. Overall it is a nice beer with good flavor and balance. LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Appearance: Pours a dark ruby with no head.JorisPPattyn (10002) - Ursel, BELGIUM - MAY 13, 2012
Aroma: Big fruity nose:apple /pear. Belgian yeast.
Taste: Fruity esters, candi sugar ,spicy hops. Some red apple as well. There was very so slight apparent alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Prickly, juicy,medium bodied.
Overall: As far as the beer goes, it was very tasty, very balanced, and would like to try more. As for the container, to me, it’s ugly as hell and seems like a bad fit for a Belgian-style beer. With that said, I got a real kick out of the idea of having some now, screwing back on the lid, and saving it for later. Honestly, looking at the container had me judging the book by it’s cover, and luckily, the beer was very tasty.
Very good composite yellow-cream head, fast goen over very carbonated, clear red-chestnut beer. Estery, hot-aromatic nose; rainwater small. Grapes or raisins, bit sweet. Thin, and yet bit cloying, somewhat caramel-estery flavour. Some citrus notes, not hoppy. Marzipan-retronasal. Not really well-bodied, thinnish finish. Not undeserving, but it is equally bit lame. Good point: very drinkable for an 8 % beer.
