On tap at Hops & Pie. Clear amber appearance with a beige ring of foam. Mild aroma of peaty malts, earthy notes, light caramel/toffee and a touch of dark fruits. Similar flavor, mildly sweet with a touch of smoky bitterness. Average body, a little thin. OK. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 5, 2015
Can, as pictured. Not bad, kinda thin, just malty, caramel, etc. Pretty sweet throughout, not a lot of balance. Ok beer, finely made but nothing special. Travlr (25828) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2015
Draft at the source. Clear dark amber. Aroma of burnt caramel. Taste is similar, sweetish. ARH (1134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2015
On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is sweet, dark fruit, (raisin and plum) with an undertone of caramel. It’s clear with a malty caramel brown hue and is topped by a dense soap, slightly off-white head retaining a medium thick ring with a dash of a fuzzy surface, and leaves a good amount of dense sheet lace. The taste is a muted, medium sweet with a light bitter touch. The beer is oily with a soft zip carbonation. The medium malty body has a mild roasted character with tones of nuts, toffee, and brown sugar. The finish is surprisingly crisp with a caramel syrup flavor that turns more roasted in the dry aftertaste. cards04 (2872) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 22, 2015
Pretty weak Scottish ale. Muted aromas... Some peat and sweet malt. Flavors are a bit of caramel and banana. Thin and watery.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought caramel, toffee, some grass, hints of bread, dough, not a whole lot there. Taste is sweet caramel, bread, biscuit, some earth, touch of grass, finishing sweet. edgallow (4376) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 1, 2014
15 oz can pours brown with an off white head. Aroma of malts, fruit and spice. Taste is malts, grain and fruit. pinkzambia (2069) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 28, 2014
Can: brown with a tan head. This is an awful example of a Scottish ale. This is crap and tastes like a dark lager essentially. Meh. RobertDale (6755) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - OCT 26, 2014
Sample at GABF. Comes reddish brown with a small tan head. Mild aroma of malt, fruit, and caramel. Taste is similar. Somewhat sweet, but very drinkable. RABinCO (1511) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - SEP 28, 2014
Pint can into a glass. Deep ruddy, copper pour. Sweet caramel and dark fruit aroma. Taste is woody, cola, dark fruits, vanilla, sugar. Not my favorite style...and this is a good example of all the things I dislike about it.
