COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wee Mac is a Scottish style brown ale. Fermented at cooler than normal temperatures to mimic the climate of Scotland. Wee Mac is an easy drinking brown ale that is both smooth and malty wit caramel and chocolate tones. Hops are used sparingly in this beer and serve only to help balance the sweetness of the malt.

Received in trade from phisigben, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a crystal clear solid copper brown color with a good sized creamy white head that slowly dissipates, but leaves some spotty lace in its wake. Now this beer is still quite cold, freshly poured after coming out of the "regular" refrigerator, but most of what Im getting from the aroma is an almost tart fruitiness. As this warms it opens up a little and I get more malt with sweet caramel and toffee, bread, and hints of dark fruit. Taste is mild toffee and caramel up front followed by some tart and dark fruits for the dry finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick sugary mouthfeel. This one is a bit weird. Theres a tart almost metallic thing going on the aroma. The body is a bit to thin for the style and the flavor should have more rich caramel/burnt sugar maltiness in it, but it doesnt. This one kind of falls short of expectations.

tap at the brewery - Pours light amber-brown with an off-white head. It was a very distinct caramel malt aroma. The flavor is caramel malt and some mild, earthy hops. Its light bodied and overall a little milder than Id like in a Scottish ale. Decent.

Thanks to Josh for the tall boy! Wee Mac = Tyrion Lannister? Scottish brown seems about right, as this brew isnt quite your typical Scottish and certainly not your typical brown. Vigorous pour required careful monitoring to avoid counter spillage. Murky light copper pour, head fades very quickly to leave the thinnest scrim. Nose is hugely fruity, almost to the exclusion of anything else, and whats there is more bright and floral than is customary for the style. Full mouthfeel, feels more carbonated than it ends up looking. Taste is too sweet, even some vanilla syrup creeping in there along with the bright fruit adjuncts. And the whole fades a bit quickly in the finish. Weird.

Can. Grainy malt aroma. Clear chestnut with a small off-white head, some nice creamy lacing. As in the nose, the flavor is a heavy gainy malt with a very slight metallic bitter finish. Body on the light side of medium, moderate carbonation.

Aroma is malty beer, but nothing that reminds me of Scotch Ale. Flavor does deliver a little in that way. Body, despite being malty, is still a touch thin. An ok beer. Ill enjoy this one, but not get another.

Deep mahogany hue. Inviting nose. Malt forward with rich elements of toast, peat and toffee. Wholesomely sweet, but not cloying. Hops are earthy and herbal, delicate and balancing. Not overly exciting, but tasty and well made.
