Taster. Dark brown with tan head. Malt notes with coffee and dark chocolate... Sweet toffee finish... A bit thin... phaleslu (10274) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Draft sample at the brewery. Pours a very dark brown color with a small beige ring for a head. The aroma is intensely roasty, with dark chocolate, toasted oats, black syrup, and smoke. The flavor mellows out the same slate of notes. Light-medium bodied, with a roasty mouthfeel and mellow carbonation. Good oat stout. Block (2727) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - FEB 13, 2013
Pretty nice. A black stout with chocolate and caramel flavors. Just a little bit of smoke. Smooth, not so much creamy. b3shine (8878) - Indiana, USA - JAN 25, 2013
Draft to taster. Looks good; black with beige lacing. Smells solid; dark malt and roast. Tastes like it smells with an average (and somewhat bitter) mouthfeel. Solid, but not spectacular. shrubber85 (11411) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Tap at New Albanian. Chocolate oatmeal malt aroma. Black with small head. Lightly smoky chocolate oatmeal malt flavor. Lightly bitter finish. Very nice.

Growler from Brewery in Indianapolis! On Superbowl Sunday! Pours a thick black molasses syrup with a wonderful tan froth head. Really appetizing beer at first glance. Initial tasting of this beer was Smokey! Wow if you like a Smokey stout THIS IS YOUR BEER!! Notes of chocolate coffee and slight fig/date fruit hint. A real treat! Probably wouldnt slam 6 of these but it is good nevertheless! FunkyBrewster (1518) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Tasted from a growler a friend brought. Pours black with a small tan froth. Aroma is mostly chocolate with some roast and a light cherrywood smoked note, little bit of the oats. Flavor starts sweet and chocolate with the smoke coming in stronger through the follow a bit woody in the finish. Light earthy and fruity note. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Decent beer Tmoney99 (14501) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 1, 2011
Sample at IBGW 2011. Poured dark brown color with an average brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, roasted coffee and small smoke aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This exceeded my expectations.

Growler from the brewery. Poured a almost jet black with the slighest deep red edges. Fairly thick, cascading medium tan head. Aromas of roasted grain and chocolate. Hardly got any smoke at all. Had I not read smoke in the description, I don’t think I could have pinpointed it. Creamy body with a good dose of coffee and chocolate flavors. Very smooth and easy drinking. Really nice beer from a great new brewery (to me at least).
