A really nice hop ale. This is probably my favorite beer here. The hop flavor is persistent, but the beer is quite sessionable. Nice. rusty (1547) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - MAR 6, 2010
on cask at sun up . pours a beautiful orange with a creamy sticky head. aroma is malt fresh hops from the dry hopping with amarillo in the cask. flavor is malt amarillo hops and a good amount of bitterness in the finish. i love sun up beers on cask. Poured up at the brewpub with clear deep gold body and near white head. The aroma is bold sweet and sugar like with malts as well as pine hops. The taste has firm and pleasing levels of pine hop bitterness at the level of most eastern US IPA. So I love that aspect of this beer. It has mild notes of malts, roasted malts and grapefruit hop bitterness all rounding out small supporting roles. bhensonb (15993) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 8, 2007
Draft at the pub. Aroma of citrus hop with some malt. (staff said Amarillo hop) Amber color, little head. Nice citrus start, medium mouthfeel. Malt then comes on strong. The hop balances this in the finish.
The cask version is soft and lush. Go cask, if you can. fiulijn (21516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 28, 2009
Draught at the brewpub

Deep blond color; creamy head. The aroma is light, fruity. Good toffee flavor, correct body strength, with a very good hopping, partially fruity and aromatic, and of course strong bitterness. Pleasant.
Pint at the brewpub. This is a really solid pale ale. It’s clean with assertive hops. Malts are tasteful and not too sticky or heavy. Tastes like grapefruit with a subtle malt sweetness. You know the drill when it comes to a predictable APA. Though this is nothing unique, it is tasty. FlacoAlto (4234) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2006
This beer is topped by a pale head, which has a fair amount of staying power for a draught ale. It is brilliantly clear, amber-copper color that is just shiny and bright. The aroma has notes of citrus and pine; actually I get notes of bergamot. The aroma is on the sweet side of things, though not overly so.Bockyhorsey (2638) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - JUL 26, 2006
This beer has a solidly hoppy flavor; a biting bitterness from the get go, lingers on through to the end. Orange and grapefruit like citrus notes are also here from start through to the late middle portion of this beer. There is a sharp, prickly bitterness at the end, which is a combination of the carbonation and the hops; it is quite good. This is light and easy drinking, if you can get past the biting hop character, which my hop desensitized palate can. This beer is almost too light at times (can the malt and body live up to the ample hop character?) but in the end I really like this beer; my inner hop head revels in this light, easily quaffable, hopped up beer.
Tap @ brewhouse. Real good floral aroma for this one. Deep amber body with good head and plenty of lacing. Medium body brew witha good citrus flavor that is good refreshing refreshing brew. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - AUG 25, 2011
Yellow/gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Light caramel malt, bread and light citrus hops. Dry maltiness, and a light citrus bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 14, 2008
pours a light copper color (seems to be a trend so i’ll go with it) with a dense off white head. it sticks around for a while and leaves behind some spots of pillowy lacing. the aroma is woody, grainy sweetness, grass and grapefruit with an almost salty note. the flavor is similar... quite dry, caramel, floral hops, grass and citrus (mainly grapefruit). dry lightly bitter earthy finish. medium bodied with a little richness. quite refreshing and well suited for arizona summers...
