Draught @ Sundbytunet, Jessheim
Pours hazy dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, raisins, oxidization and dark dried fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long dried fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at Beer13. Caramel brown with an off-white head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma with dried fruits, caramel and malt. Quite sweet with a mild bitterness in the finish. Well balanced and quite delicious. Nice! (2013-04-19)

On tap at Beer13. Golden/ orange unclear color , ok foam. High aroma intensity, caramel, vanilla, malt & lightly hopped. Full body & high complexity . Sweetness at first, some bitterness- still a bit sweet. Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A rich caramelized-nutty-fruity barley wine with good hopping. An easy to drink monster. Excellent
How: Tap at brewpub, given to me by the brewer from a special keg he was saving for their 1rst anniversary. Thanks a lot Frank
The look: Partly cloudy copper body topped by a small beige head
In long: The intense nose is some kind of rich hazelnut dessert and fruity hops. Taste has a rich luscious caramelized malt backbone that somehow doesn’t feeling heavy, hazelnut pie, other rich calorific stuff, a good leafy and fruity hops presence adding refreshing fruity flavors and a smooth bitterness. A very well balanced beer, very harmonious beer, no sign of the 11% abv, dangerously drinkable, a superior barley wine. My taste buds were more busy than the handicapped parking spaces at the special Olympics.

A good amount of this one served on a guided tour at the microbrewery, many thanks to Frank, who also gave me a taste of the exciting barrel version. Elvexir has got a dark apricot coloured body, slightly unclear. Creamy, off-white head at the top. Rich aroma that consisted mostly of dried fruits and mid-sweet malts. Comprehensive taste profile with plums, red oranges, apricots and figs. A bit port-like. Integrated, warming alcohol. Full bodied. A flavoursome, well-crafted brew (Jessheim, 08.05.2012).

On tap @ the brewpub. Unclear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, dry fruit, some citric fruit and caramel. Quite vinous in aroma. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, fruity bitterness, dry fruit and very well balanced bitterness. Actually everything seems to be really well balanced here. The high alcohol is basically just experienced as a warming aftertaste. Full body and a long, fine aftertaste. Very pleasant, looking forward for the barrel version.

On tap at the brewpub. A lightly unclear one, amber to copper in color and with a small, beige head. Lightly peppery on the nose, with a pleasant alcohol touch. Quite fruity. Dried fruits, some caramel. A hint of nuts too. Full-bodied, warming and oily on the palate. Quite sweet, but far from cloying. Pleasant bitterness. Some citrusy notes and a touch of pine cones. Lasting finish. Certainly a nice one, pity it seems to be retired. I also tasted a barreled edition of this one, which was also very nice: Tap. A clear one, dark golden in color and with a thin layer of light beige bubbles. Soft, pleasant nose with a little bit vanilla. Caramel maltyness, some citrusy hops and some oak. A little bit of alcohol too, both in the aroma and the flavor. Pleasant and complex flavor with caramel, some nuts and bitterness. Very rounded hop flavors. Full body, smooth and rounded. Lasting finish. A pleasant and really nice sipper. Rating: 8-4-8-4-16-4.0. 120505

On [email protected] Sundbytunet. Pours cloudy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fruitiness, cheese, floral hops, citrus and tangerin. Flavor is sweet and malty with some fruity, floral, citrus and cheesy notes. Medium to full body, soft carbonation.

larsga (7625) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 24, 2012
Big creamy offwhite head. Clear deep red body. Fruity citric resiny aroma with notes of freshly cut grass and syrup. Dry-sweet resiny fruity grassy taste with citric notes. Fullish body. Mild, soft mouthfeel with faint heat. Dry resiny fruity aftertaste with wild berry and orange peel notes. Long lingering aftertaste. Nice, and amazingly drinkable. Very harmonic, and perhaps a little bit subdued. Very little sign of the alcohol. (0.25l draft at brewpub.)

On tap at the brewpub. Lovely dark amber colour, with a creamy off white head. Hoppy aroma, almost like an IPA. Also sweet and a bit fruity. Rich and balanced sweet flavour. Plum, dark fruits, spicy and a lovely malt background. I have never been a fan of Barley Wine. Until now..... What a miss if I had not ordered this one. The lovely lady behind the bar said it would be one of the last days they served it as well. What a crime to humankind. This was shockingly good. And absolutely no alcohol taste! At 11%. Unbelivable.
