aroma - malt coffee, choc malt; tastes : creamy, coffee, choc, not as rich as you might expect, like their porter better
750 ml. 2014 vintage, 8.3% abv. Opaque black with a lasting disc of of sticky meringue foam on top. Nose is dark bread, berry, caramel apple and a hint of coffee. Flavor is dark toffee, apple, lightly tart berry and chocolate. Long finish shows some espresso with cream, ash and dark toast. Medium-heavy body has a nice balance and medium carbonation. Strange, but this one tastes English Ale yeast-like and similar to the Tartan Tent Scottish Ale I had from this brewery a couple of days ago. obguthr (6367) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - MAR 13, 2015
Diacetyl on the nose, some wood. Black, medium tan head, good lace. Charcoal and sweet coffee with diacetyl present. Finishes with nice smoke and vanilla. Full body, soft body. If it wasn’t for the infection, I think I would have liked this.
