Pours a slight cloudy lemon yellow in the glass. Bubblegum and citrus aromas. Clean but watered down flavor. Flavors are hard to detect. Very carbonated on the palate. Overall, eh... it might make for some easy summer drinking but it’s nothing I would seek out again.

Liked it when sampled but not so good. Some initial grassy flavor but then becomes a malty mess. Went a bit flat too as it warmed. Sour aftertaste.

Bottle: Pours a Light Clear Golden, with fizzy white head. Aroma is of hops, hay, light mouthfeel with modest carbonation here. Flavors are that typical german hop, hay or barnyard, and I’m not getting much else here. Nice and drinkable, I guess that is to be expected. My first Kölsch -

[Bottle] Pours a clear yellow color with a fizzy white head. Aroma of grains and sweet light malts. The taste is of light malts, crisp grassy hops and some herbs. Full bodied, with fine carbonation. Lingering soft hoppy notes in the finish. Very refreshing and tasty.

Bottle from River City Cellars on 03/21/2010. Very clear pale golden body with a medium creamy white head. Sweet pale malt, light pils and a bit of floral hops. Sweet pils malt flavor, some toasty notes with a bit of light floral character. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

Draught shaker @ Nuernberg Brauhaus in Pflugerville, TX- served a transparent yellow color with a half finger white foamy head that laced very well, light aroma of wheat, malt, and grass. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt is very light, middle has a small hop bite to it, finish has a bitter/ grainy honey feel to it. Rather refreshing.

On tap at brewpub.
Appearance : Clear yellow, foamy head, extensive lacing.
Aroma : Some grain with light hints of honey. A little bit buttery. Not so good.
Taste : Grain with some honey. A bit mineral and herbal.
Overall : Carbonation may have been a bit too soft. Far from being as good as the Peters.

KyotoLefty (10254) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 28, 2010
Gravity, in their old brauhaus in the aldstadt, Cologne. Darker gold than usual, with a bubbly head. Malty, slightly fruity aroma. Rather malty flavor with quite a bit of fruit and a nice, peppery finish. Cereals, sweet malts, not a lot of hop flavor, but ok bitterness and balance. Decent, though not so special.

ComradeK (1236) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 17, 2010
500ml bottle. Pours a clear light gold, with a large but fading head, and very little lacing. The aroma is an odd mixture of caramel and some doughy notes, and is not altogether brilliant. There are some quite nice citrus hops to start with, but these fade into a somewhat insipid slightly sweet finish. It’s passable, but far from great. Stylistically, this seems to sit somewhere between an ale and a lager. I’m not sure if the beer’s problems are stylistic, though, or if it is just this example.

imaragingbull (572) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 4, 2010
1pt 0.9floz bottle. 5.3% ABV. Pours clear light yellow with white head, lacing the glass. Light floral and grassy hop aromas coupled with grainy malt and bread. Medium-light mouthfeel showcasing well balanced hop flavours and bitterness. Zesty bitterness accentuated by a medium-high carbonation. Medium-dry finish with a residual caramel sweetness and hop flavour lingering through. Very nice, flavoursome kolsch.
