On tap at Sunshine Coast, pours a hazy dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out earthy notes and a little diacetyl. Flavour has lots of diacetyl as well, not quite as bad the Best Bitter. Not good. gam (3964) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 12, 2015

On tap at The Archive. Super smooth malt, well balanced with just the right hop bitterness. This is great stuff. Jado (798) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - MAR 2, 2014
On tap. Beautiful clear brick red with some lighter cherry red highlights, fluffy off-white head and moderate carbonation. Aromas of toffee, flowers, cut grass and candy sugar. The taste starts out with biscuit malts, before a moderate bitterness in the mid-palate. A fruity back end is highlighted by a light floral touch and a lingering finish. Balanced and moreish. Nice beer.

330ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a lovely deep coppery colour with nice head. Very nice malty taste with traces of toffee and caramel that lingers nicely on the palate. A very good ESB. Very nice beer. KeefOz (1861) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - SEP 12, 2012
Poured a semi-translucent deep coppery red colour with a one-finger beige bubbly head that produced filmy lacing. Moderate to high carbonation. Aroma of malts and fruity hops. Taste quite intensly hops driven. Medium body. Smooth on palate. Dry velvety mouthfeel. Quite nice. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - APR 14, 2012
Bottle at Archive, Brisbane. Delicious, malty ale. Aromas of caramel, grain, and marmelade. Taste is sweet, with light sourness, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head. mkel07 (6140) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - DEC 11, 2010
330ml bottle. A deep ruby bronzed copper colour with a moderate light brown head. Malty biscuit aroma with some sweet caramel notes breaking through. Malty syrupy flavour that sits on the tongue. Toffee comes through late but adds to the flavour. A pleasant experience. Muggus69 (2531) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - OCT 16, 2010
Bottle, Archive Beer, Brisbane
Deep bronzed body with minimal head.
Nice nose with plenty of fruity, citrus grassy hops and obvious signs of crystal malts and spice.
Slick texture and dryness, no doubt contributed in part by rye, good carbonation and full body.
Body packed full of enough hop fruit to keep interest up, but what i’m really looking for is rye, which is probably a bit subdued for my likes, though it’s presence is best felt on a drying spicy finish. Hop bitterness hits its mark well, balancing the malt sweetness.
Tasty. Glad to see someone making a different sort of pale ale/bitter, though the rye could be more prominant.
