Jet black with dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and a hint of dried prune. Flavour is a mix of the aroma, malt, coffee and probably a bit more dried prune/fruit in the mix. Finish is a tad short, but enjoyable nonetheless.

35 cl can. Very dark brown color, almost black, however clear. Short thick creamy brownish head. Aroma of toasted malts, oats/cornflakes, burnt wood, a bit of charcoal and tobacco, a vague fruity note. Taste is flattish, sweetish, a little balanced. Fluffy texture, smooth finish. Ok schwarzie.

Can from Family Mart in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Nose has toasted barley and soy sauce. Flavor is quite good: starts with mildly sweet grain note, then a touch of grassy bitterness and finishes with a dark roasted, almost coffee, note, Texture is smooth, almost creamy. Probably the best macro available in Taiwan’s 便利商店.

First for a couple of years, seduced by new can. Pours near black with cola highlights, fast dissipating head. Good roasty aroma, chocolate, a little anise, occasional bursts of citrus. Similar flavour, very savoury, dry finish, medium-light body that falls away a bit. Still a solid macro schwarz, happy to revisit.

A pretty fine schwarzbier I guess, nothing special, a bit tart in the finish, a bit sweet, lightly milk chocolatey.
