On tap at the brewery tour. Far, far better than from a can. Thick creamy head, delicate carbonation. Light to medium mouthfeel, but much stronger and more balanced flavours than most Japanese macros. Malt is strong but nit overpowering. Nice citrus notes. My favorite mainstream Japanese beer. skatanarchy (212) - - APR 17, 2015

A bold golden color with a mild hint of PNW hops in the nose. the mouth is quiet hoppy, very fragerant with colombia and cascade hoppiness that is supposed with a solid does of malts. The finish is moderately bitter and comes together like an excellent hoppy pilsner should! asheft (3082) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 15, 2007
Nice fresh noble hops aroma combined with sweet malt and a lemony finish. Bright gold with a lasting white sheet that formed pretty lacing. Delicate DMS-y (in a good way) malt with the perfect balance of bitterness. More malt than hops in this beer. Light body with medium carbonation and a clean finish.

Had this on tap at the Kyoto brewery, which means this review will be much better that you are likely to find this beer anywhere else. It had a thick, fine, creamy head that you could almost walk on. Aroma was dominated by rich lemony hops. Malt flavor is as good as you get for a Japanese macro, and aroma hops are there in force. Palate works well. Everything was decent, although I was still wishing for a bit more bitterness. The hops are used almost only for aroma. Far better than in the can. Free too!
Actually, I would say that this is a premium lager, as it is carefully lagered for a good deal of time.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2015 Good lager. Pours yellow with quickly dissipating head. Nose is malt ( gasp) and sweet. Taste is again malt and sweet with a herbal bitter aftertaste. Elements of toffee and nut can be found. Finish is quick yet crisp. I’m a massive fan of Japanese lagers and I didnt drink this for ages as the can and name put me off. I can see myself drinking this from the 7-11 when I’m in the mood for something with more bite than Super Dry. Stronger than most Jap beers with a bitter edge, but seems sweeter on draught and doesn’t taste as herbally as the can( had it in many a yakitori place in Tokyo). The more I drink this the more I enjoy it. shoulderbroken (4255) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 29, 2012
500ml bottle at home from the local offie. Pale blond colour, very clear, white bubbly head soon fades. Aroma is light caramel, grassy, citrus hops, and wheat. Taste is slightly sweet, some bitterness, nice and malty. Nice and crisp. For some reason I have had a soft spot for this for quite a few years now. Can’t really explain why, but it is one of the better macro lagers. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - AUG 2, 2002
This is IMHO the best beer Japan has to offer out of the macrobrews. Nice head and great flavor. Beats all Kirins, Sapporos, and Asahis. CapFlu (5127) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 24, 2006
(Bottle) Shared at the PNW Christmas 2006 party at Oakes on December 9th. Nice carbonation with a clear golden body. Peppery. Leafy nose. Flavour is bitter with a delicious hops front and a grainy undertone. Thanks TimE.
