COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Helsinki Portteri on väriltään musta, hyvävaahtoinen pintahiivaolut. Tuoksultaan olut on paahtunut ja maultaan kevyehkö ja hieman lakritsainen. Portteri on vanha perinteinen Lontoosta 1700-luvulta peräisin oleva oluttyyppi. Suomalaiset portterit ovat saaneet vaikutteita myös Venäjälle keisarin hoviin Britanniasta rahdatuista juomista: kestääkseen pitkän merimatkan ne ovat hieman vahvempia kuin perinteiset brittiportterit.

Draught (at Suomenlinnan). Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of black olives (NOT vinegar/salt brine, but the meaty olive itself), berries, vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. From the very first sample at the brewpub, I knew we would be here awhile...these beers are brewed with great attention to detail. Clean, nuanced, and enticing.

Toimiva portteri!

Dark brown beer, thick tan head. Nose is roasty, chocolate and hop notes. Flavor is a bit thin, roast, dark chocolate. Finishes with slightly acidic roast, hoppy-roasty bitterness. Lingering acidity and ashtray. More ashtray in the retronasals. Decent, though the ashtray is a bit unfortunate.

Bottle, shared. Dark-dark brown. Big fluffy beige head. Ooh, this is nice - just enough roast, bitter, sweet, even slightly fruity. Active, yet subtle carbonation. Very enjoyable.

Bottle (from Liviko Alcostore). Pours dark brown-black with light brown head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, fruits, malt, sweet apples. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, fruits, coffee and some metallic notes. Finish is mellow roast bitter. Body is on the light side, carbonation is a bit too high for me. Overall: good brew.

thirstyrabbit (1849) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 24, 2015
Bottle. Dark body, tall tan head. Modest roasty aroma with soft roast and dark chocolate. Very soft, almost airy mouthfeel. The flavour is subtle with gentle roast and modest hop bitterness. Clean and well done but feels slightly watery to me. I need a bit more roasty/hoppy oomph to enjoy a porter.

Marduk (8058) - Reval, ESTONIA - NOV 21, 2015
500ml bottle. Very dark brown almost black color. Medium size, thick brown head, stays. Roasted malts, bit of chocolate, sweetish, bit woody in aroma. Roasted malts, chocolate, woody, sweet, touch of very mild hops in taste. Long lasting chocolate and roast in aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Super easy to drink. Fantastic brew!

Black with a thin creamy head. Flavour is bittersweet with a nice roast malt finish. Quite warming.
