bartlebier (3815) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 12, 2014
Draught at source under the mill, 01V2014. No nose. Traditional silky fruit sirup on brown bread basket: plum, caramels, liquorice. Redeeming dry roast. Mid-heavy mouthfeel. Fine enough, just one to ground its sipper in rural traditions and fairgrounds where fast and cheap unctuosity still present a sugary treat, not to uplift him out of the deep pockets he has travelled to.

VDuquerroux (1555) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - APR 27, 2014
Bottle, 33cL. Home. A clear mahogany brown beer with a medium white head. Poor persistence. Just a few bubbles there. Fruity aroma (red berries, raisins), caramel, roasty malt, metallic smell (?). Light to medium bittersweet taste (sugar feeling). Medium to full body. Medium texture. Average carbonation but OK. Long sweet finish. Overall, a nice sweet warming dubbel. Nothing exceptional.

erickok (5829) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2014
Brown bodied with a tan head. Looks nice. Strangely acidic malts, sugary industrial cookies, Sweet yet okay tasting Belgian brown malty based body withlittle hop character but enough bitterness. Classic, but quite well executed. A bit too clean in character perhaps, with its short ending. Its a nice Belgian Dark Ale. (33cl bottle from Cave Gambrinus SPdC)

ruigo (2706) - PORTUGAL - FEB 15, 2014
Shared a 75cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours a clear dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is... lightly malts. Average lively carbonation with a medium to light body. A bit watery. Taste is... light sweet and light bitter. Light. Overall, a not particularly good beer but not bad either.

Brune tirant vers lambr, effervescence moyenne (ptillant trop au palais), col beige clair moyen. Assez malte, caramel lger, un rien mtallique, un peu trop sucre, mini amertume sur la fin.

33 cl. bottle sampled thx! to Kraddel.BBF 01/03/2014. Pours a ruby dark brown with some tanned bubbles. Nose is liquorish, sweet herbs, caramel, light bread, something metallic-like. Taste is bitter herbs mixed with coca-cola, faint but not bothersome iron, bark, sweet dark bread, touch caramel & cheap chocolate candy. It is a bit like some odd coca-cola with light spices. Med. to lighter body. Not stellar but I expected much worse, this is an okay & mildly enjoyable drink.

Swaroga (2207) - Warszawa, POLAND - OCT 7, 2013
75cl bottle. Dark brown with huge head. Nose : burned aromas of caramel, toffee, cooked fruits, dried raisins, tart, fig. Sip : medium body with oily texture. Medium carbonation. Sweet tart notes, burned and toffee. Develops more fruit nuances as it stays cloying sweet. Minor bitterness on the end. Finish reveals hop aromas. Overall it's a well balanced beer. Tasty and in it's category of dark Belgian ales it's one of the better ones.
