Dark red brown colour. Aroma and flavour have sweet dark malts and a bit of dried fruit. Pleasant.

Pours Brown with a low tan head. Aromas of caramel, honey, muscovado sugar, raisins. Very sweet on the nose. Taste is caramel, muscovado sugar, ripe apple, raisins. Mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat sticky with medium carbonation.

guzgorog (972) - FRANCE - JUN 10, 2014
Brune caramel transludice avec un peu de mousse qui tombe rapidement. Nez malt et sucre candy. Pas d’amertume, sucrée, malt et caramel. Bof bof...

bartlebier (4216) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 12, 2014
Draught at source under the mill, 01V2014. No nose. Traditional silky fruit sirup on brown bread basket: plum, caramels, liquorice. Redeeming dry roast. Mid-heavy mouthfeel. Fine enough, just one to ground its sipper in rural traditions and fairgrounds where fast and cheap unctuosity still present a sugary treat, not to uplift him out of the deep pockets he has travelled to.

VDuquerroux (1954) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - APR 27, 2014
Bottle, 33cL. Home. A clear mahogany brown beer with a medium white head. Poor persistence. Just a few bubbles there. Fruity aroma (red berries, raisins), caramel, roasty malt, metallic smell (?). Light to medium bittersweet taste (sugar feeling). Medium to full body. Medium texture. Average carbonation but OK. Long sweet finish. Overall, a nice sweet warming dubbel. Nothing exceptional.

erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2014
Brown bodied with a tan head. Looks nice. Strangely acidic malts, sugary industrial cookies, Sweet yet okay tasting Belgian brown malty based body withlittle hop character but enough bitterness. Classic, but quite well executed. A bit too clean in character perhaps, with its short ending. It’s a nice Belgian Dark Ale. (33cl bottle from Cave Gambrinus SPdC)

ruigo (3080) - PORTUGAL - FEB 15, 2014
Shared a 75cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours a clear dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is... lightly malts. Average lively carbonation with a medium to light body. A bit watery. Taste is... light sweet and light bitter. Light. Overall, a not particularly good beer but not bad either.

EddyBeer1 (1058) - Brussels, BELGIUM - FEB 9, 2014
Brune tirant vers l’ambré, effervescence moyenne (pétillant trop au palais), col beige clair moyen. Assez maltée, caramel léger, un rien métallique, un peu trop sucrée, mini amertume sur la fin.

2.3
domienS (250) - Oostakker, BELGIUM - JAN 14, 2014
Pours a black beer with a fine beige head. Smells sweet, caramel and liquorish. Tastes bitter, spicy and liquorish. Really doesn’t leave a nice palate imo. A ok beer and nothing more.
