Bottle, bought @ BelgianShop.com.sebletitje (10089) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 5, 2009
Pours clear redish purple-brown with a medium, off-white creamy head. Aroma has light metal, some coriander, light chocolate, cinnamon and caramel malts. Medium carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is generally rather sweet, good toasted chocolate and caramel. Good, elegant spiciness that takes it away from other similar dubbels. Nice enough.
33 cl bottle
pours dark brown, beige head.
aroma and taste, strangely spicy, hints of cinnamon, lots of malts, caramel, bready. The overall mouthfeel kept a nice spicy touch of cinnamon that made this beer simple, yet unique. wimpie133 (381) - Brugge, BELGIUM - JUL 4, 2009
Bottle, 25 cl. Dark brown to amber colour with a small beige head, not lacing very well and disappearing too fast. A very good smell: fruity, grainy, hoppy, a bit spicy and some notes of barley. Sharp in the nose. Like the head is disappearing too fast the taste is getting boring too fast: a very light - too light in my opinion - taste with a very specific grainy taste in it, but surrounded with a watery aftertaste. Also notes of barley and a light sweet finish. Only the last gulps the taste was getting stronger, but overall this beer is far too weak in comparison with others in this style. bottle, dark amber colour and white/beige head. Smell: fruity. But this is more an ’only smell beer’. When you start drinking it you’ll be dissapointed. Taste: mushrooms, a bit bitter, sweet, grainy. Overall a very boring beer with nothing special. charlotte (5394) - rødovre, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2009

bottle, pours dark amber/red with a medium off white head. Aroma is spicy and sweet. Clove and cinnamon mix with dark candy sugar and minimal hop bitterness. Not bad. Bontus (800) - Flanders, BELGIUM - DEC 18, 2008
Bottle 25cl, hopduvel Gent. Pours clear mahogany brown with a rocky white head. Aromas mainly dark fruits. Hopping pronounces later. Medium bodied. Nice brune. DruncanVeasey (8239) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 20, 2008
Mahogany pour swallowed by requisite goldfish bowl. Coke-like ruby tints, beige head fizzing to a slick too quickly. Dryish sesame nutty aroma dosed with anise, liquorice, ginger, cinnamon? Bits of chocolate, apple strudel, raisin, heady brandyish touches. Pencil, grain, chocolate malt backbone maybe as in a Czech dark lager or Thuringian Schwarz. Sneaking noble hop herbal notes, peaty malt emerging from behind the spice. Paper, grain, wee dram, occasional cudgelling sweet spice notes of clove, cinnamon, coriander, ginger as in Cola or some kind of herbal tonic or liqueur. I’m getting a droplet of Latvian Balzams. Too much sugar. Pronounced noble hopping as it warms, more so than usual for a Dubbel. Enjoyable, unsubtle, mixed-up spicy brew. Borresteijn (7269) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 21, 2008
