rxeight (3278) - Illinois, USA - SEP 23, 2017
Draft at CBC Boston 2017. Vibrant and deep crimson color. Big sweet jammy raspberry and blackberry. Slight vanilla. Very sweet. Fruit and sweetness almost completely cover the honey and booze.

DiarmaidBHK (5947) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 22, 2017
Sampler at Copenhagen Boston. Pours purple with no head. Huge berries on the nose and tongue. This flavor is somehow balanced by vanilla. It shouldn't fucking work but it does to spectacular effect. Hides it's booze remarkably well.

Mooch tasting at Matt's, corked
Dark blood color. At first the aroma reminds me of amarena ice cream, later the vanilla gets quite perfumy, gets in the way. Sweet syrup, the balance with the alcohol is achieved, the vanilla is too perfumy, the berries have a nice depth and provide some final astringency.
Good drink, hardly a Mead, and a bit too artificial.

375ml bottle @ Matt’s. Pours a dark purple colour with no head. Nose has tons of vanilla and some berries notes. Flavour lightly tart berries with ample sweet vanilla. This is quite delicious.

Bottle - Vanilla and intense mixed Berry notes with intense sweet honey. Deep red and light purple. Tons of vanilla, big Berry notes and a nice finish. Very nice.

Purple. Perfumey - like I’m at a yankee candle shop, just overkill on the vanilla. Just a whack of vanilla, with a mellow berry character. Tart, fruity berry character. Lots of vanilla, like creamy, extracty. The cloying vanilla clashes with the tart, fruity berry character. The two elements aren’t really coming together. Finishes with a shot of alcohol. Get past that, and I have no idea what the base mead actually tastes like.
