Appearance: Dark brown with a big tan head
Aroma: Roasted malts and piney
Taste: Roasted, malts pine resin and bright citrus
Bottle from whole foods Northridge. Aroma is citrus and pine hops with a nice strong malt roast bitterness and subtle hints of cocoa. Appearance is black with a tan head that laces nicely and linger long. Taste is bitter piney citrus hops with a nice stout malt background sweet roasty finish. palate is a bit more on the stout side than the IPA side but that’s fine w/ me. A really nice beer, great "black IPA" for end of summer beginning of fall since it stradles the line a bit more on the roasty stout side. anders37 (26641) - Malmö, SWEDEN - AUG 28, 2012
Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty hoppy piney aroma with hints of coffee. Roasted malty piney bitter licorice flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty bitter hoppy piney finish. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 14, 2012
The pour is really dark brown with a tall khaki head. Really good hop aroma to begin. Plenty of citrus hops, light grass, pine, and pineapple. There is some good roast, very mild bread, and a light sweetness. The flavor has only a hint of cocoa and a moderate roast character. Mostly grapefruit, pineapple, and pine. Moderate bitterness on the back end with a light sweetness. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - AUG 4, 2012
One of the better BIPA’s that I have had. Has a real nice balance that doesn’t tilt too far to either side. Good Piney hops really work well against a light toasted roast. Pours a dark brown.

Dark pour with a light tan head. Aroma of hops mixed with roasted malt and some roasted nuts. Flavor is a pretty decent mix of hops and roasted malt. Not a bad take on a style that I am kinda sick of. Thisis12ptfont (1192) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Earthy/leafy hop aroma with some bread/oat undertones. Heavy shade of blackish purple with a medium brown foam at the top. Coffee and nuts upfront with a decent hop presence in the back. Some light spice and oats hit the finish. Overall, this is a well flavored black IPA with some porter like tastes, yet still bringing that signature IPA hop presence. I’d give this a B- rating. bfellows (15) - California, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Looks a little funny in the glass, and has an interesting aroma that isn’t a hop smell or a malt smell. not bad, just different. Black IPA is not what I would call this. I’d call it a happy brown ale. IrishBoy (4199) - Bakersfield, California, USA - APR 3, 2012
Bomber from Me & Ed’s Pizza, Oxnard. Nose is pine, grapefruit, and a hint of roasted malt. Black with a big beige head. Flavor is bitter with piney resin and a hint of toasted bread. JDUB (178) - Venice Beach, California, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Bomber bottle. Dark coffee, light tan head. Stout like nose. Hops pretty subdued.
