Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton. Opaque brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and light with fine carbonation. The dark malts are not heavy but they are robust, bringing bitterness and dark chocolate. Piney hops, slighlty sweet. A bare whisper of citrus before a light dry finish. Bitter linger. Full on CDA.

Taste comprises red berry fruit, cocoa rub, pine bite, light smoke, hint of spice, earthy hop bitterness in a semi drying close with fine carbonation.
Decent CDA. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 14, 2012
The pour is really dark brown with a tall khaki head. Really good hop aroma to begin. Plenty of citrus hops, light grass, pine, and pineapple. There is some good roast, very mild bread, and a light sweetness. The flavor has only a hint of cocoa and a moderate roast character. Mostly grapefruit, pineapple, and pine. Moderate bitterness on the back end with a light sweetness. Benzai (15442) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - NOV 20, 2014
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Very dark brown color with a nice dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, hops, fruit hops. Very well mixed, for me a perfect Black IPA has the roastyness of an Impy and the hoppyness of an IPA an D this beer has got it. In the aroma that is.... Taste is malts, hops, roasted malts, bitter, bitter hops, fruit hops. Very well balanced, perhaps a little bit too roasty bitter in the initial flavor instead of in the finish. But I’m gonna stop the wining, this is just a very good black IPA. Nice! bhensonb (15081) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 30, 2014
Bomber from Total Wine in Huntington Beach, CA. Pours dark brown with a beige/tan head. Aroma seems pine over roast/burnt malt. Med body. Flavor is malty, chocolate, pine (or perhaps citrus). Decent version. Scopey (14501) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 24, 2014
Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours near black with a thick light tan head. The nose is pine needles, sherbet, roasted malt, orange peel and chocolate powder. The taste is bitter, roasty, toast, charred wood, earth, cocoa, pine needles, soapy edge and pepper with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough cda.
