Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, lots of pine resin, tropical fruits, grapefruit, some cocoa, piney hops, touch of roast. Flavour is lightly sweetish and medium bitter. Body is medium. On the fruity resinous side of the style. Enjoyable. Christos (5860) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - OCT 7, 2015
(Surf Black IPA) 650 ml bomber at home, served into a shaker, ABV 6.5%
Dark mahogany brown colour on the body, with deep ruby red shades when hold against the light. Head seems like a fizzy one during the pouring but eventually a tall and soapy beige head is forming, with very good retentin, eaving heavy lacing around the glass.
Aroma has plenty of chocolate notes even from the moment I opened the bottle, roasted malts, hops, citrus, grass, cocoa, lemon flowers.
Well balanced taste, with intense hoppy bitterness that breaks the initial malt driven sweetness. Flavours of chocolate, cocoa, citrus, light orange peel, lemon leaves/flowers.
Medium thin body, carbonation on good levels, mildly dry palate.
Very good. markextrae (4424) - Alingsås, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - JUN 15, 2015

Sample at the taproom. The beer is a dark mahogany brown color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, pine and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, malt and pine. The finish is roasty malt up front with a lingering resiny hops aftertaste. Above average overall. 650ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, firm, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, a touch of coffee, citrusy hoppy overtones, disguised hints of lime and grapefruit. Taste is minimally tart, dry hoppy, chlorophyllic, grassy, hints of lime, roasty dark malty basis with a touch of coffee. Flawless, but without personality. Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Very dark brown color with a nice dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, hops, fruit hops. Very well mixed, for me a perfect Black IPA has the roastyness of an Impy and the hoppyness of an IPA an D this beer has got it. In the aroma that is.... Taste is malts, hops, roasted malts, bitter, bitter hops, fruit hops. Very well balanced, perhaps a little bit too roasty bitter in the initial flavor instead of in the finish. But I’m gonna stop the wining, this is just a very good black IPA. Nice!
