COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure were abrasive. We were abrasive long before we were Surly. If you visit the brewery you can still see remnants of the industrial manufacturing factory Omars parents ran for 35 years within those same 4 walls. Bandsaw blades, grinding wheels, and sanding discs came long before ales and lagers. But lets be honest, this is a lot more fun. Pale in color, this over-hopped, under-brewed Double IPA has almost twice the amount of hops & malt crammed in the can. Seasonal between March and April.

Draft at the Bavarian Lodge, Lisle. Cloudy, orangey IPA color, sudsy head of bubbles coating the sides of the glass. Smells like an apricot sundaeits-just-that-hoppy! Taste is bursting with with syrupy malts and the fruitier side of American hops. Despite the name, I found this to be quite smooth, until I started to feel a bitter burn on my soft palate. Now the more familiar hop character of grapefruit, pine and an otherwise undefinable snap, like, yanking a big strip off a roll of strapping tape.

Thanks Virby44 for the can! Poured into a snifter showing moderately filtered orange with sparse white foam. The nose shows a big intense mix of cannabis and guava with light hints of pineapple and mango. The palate is medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Juicy fruit forward flavors of mango and peach with hints of cannabis. Light malt backbone to support it all. Light bitterness on the finish. Resurgence shows the same fruit flavors with the malts reappearing in a slight adzuki sweetness. Wow, this is really good.

16 oz can shared by ebone1988. The pour is a darker golden orange color with a thin ring of light tan head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is bitter and heavy on the hops. The malts are a little sweeter, but its surprisingly balanced and nice. The flavor is a little malty for my liking. There is a nice bitter resinous hop, but there is a resounding sweetness and a strong malt on the back end. The mouth feel is thicker and a little syrupy with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly bitter hop finish. Its an interesting beer, thats for sure.

Aroma is nice, citrus, pine, tropical fruit, not juicy but not malty. Appearance is golden amber, off white head, hazy. Taste is citrus, pine, floral, tropical fruit, slight wheat. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, dank pine citrus aftertaste. Overall, very very solid.

Pours a bubbly, carbonated looking golden with a medium white head that settles slowly. The aroma has grapefruit, pineapple, orange, peach, and pine, with all impressions being about equal in strength. The taste is a little sweet and has some mild bitterness. Grapefruit and orange stand out most here. Additionally, I find pine, herbal hops, some resin, and pineapple. There is a short aftertaste of pineapple. Its medium in body, sticky in texture, and lots of carbonation in here. This one is very good.

Super nice ale. You can taste a bit of caramel and citrus in this. Not real hoppy but a tad more than I prefer. Definitely an alcohol aftertaste but nothing the would put you off.

About goddamn time this showed up in my state. The can shows a disembodied hand operating a sander and casting sparks. Thats more or less the effect this beer has on your palate. It pours pale orange. The hop aromatics are citrusy, piney, malty, and floral. The caramel malt holds the resinous hops at bay until it gives out at the end. Pineapple, orange, grapefruit, lemon, and pine needle flavors. Things dont get truly Abrasive until the finish. Thats when the full force of the 120 IBUs hit you. This is just the sort of masochism that I like.
