FoBAB 2007, Chicago. yeaaaahhhh! Smell of plum and cherry and currant. Black, soulless body under a rocky head that leaves chunks of itself behind on the sides. strong, but very smooth. Some stout bitterness left in my mouth, but so much warm bourbon texture that itís impossible to mind that fact that itís searching for a good vein.
On tap at Surly. Rating for 2017 version. Pours jet black with minimal khaki head. Scents of dark malts and fudge. Taste follows with heavy dark chocolate, some light vanilla, and coffee flavors. A little booziness but less than might be expected. Quite smooth with a full body. High quality imperial stout. jc1762 (1371) - Washington DC, USA - APR 28, 2017
Bottle poured into a taster showing pitch black with quickly dissipating foam.
The nose shows earthy hops with a light bourbon background.
The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of smoke and bourbon with a light rye spiciness. Bourbon caramel finish. stevoj (4960) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAR 26, 2017
Bottle share at Tomís. Big boozy aroma, slick and sweet. Dark black pour, small ring of dark beige head, slippery feel. Lots of alcohol heat, accents the nice rich roast malts. Molasses, coffee, etc. Nice. HogTownHarry (6622) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - MAR 25, 2017
September 19, 2015 - at Beaverton for the Rainbow event - draught. Even though I pretty much despise all bourbon, I was super stoked to finally get a chance to rate this one. Gorgeous beer - deep brown-black pour, with a large lasting brown head - doesnít get much better than that. Thereís a complex deep roast malt coffee/chocolate/herbal impy there, but wow is there a ton of bourbon overlaying it; oh well. Taste is better balanced - oddly sweet, with restrained alcohol. Syrupy, a bit still, a little too bourbony in the cloying finish - nice life to it - If I didnít hate bourbon so much I would be about 4.2 gopherfan99 (1776) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 16, 2017

2016 bottle shared by a friend. Pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, green apple and bourbon. Malty and chocolatey flavor with bourbon and cherry accents before a roasty finish. Strykzone (7305) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2017
Sampled at an ESBlS. Black with a lighter tan head. I taste coconut and massive dark malts. Sweet stuff. Wood, vanilla, and only a little bourbon. Brown sugar and big sweetness. Very good. johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 20, 2015

Sampled at Great American Beer Festival 9/24/15. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla and light bourbon. Rich and full bodied. Nice. jackadutton (65) - Bolton, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2015
Keg at Beavertown, Rainbow Project 2015. First of all - itís a magnificent looking beer. Lively and carbonated, but an incredibly rich cappuccino head (3-4 finger head). Aroma of caramel, vanilla ice cream, roasted malt and slight coffee. Taste of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, mild coffee and dark fruits. Really enjoyable and dangerously drinkable for the ABV. Excellent.
