(Draught) Pours an amber-brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma of toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and caramel. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, chocolate, dark fruits, and nuts. golubj (1377) - San Mateo, California, USA - FEB 18, 2008
EBF NOTB. Aroma is mostly bourbon, with some sweet caramel malt also. The flavor is a little like a barleywine, sweet caramel, maltiness. Decent beer overall, didn’t seem like a lager. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - DEC 11, 2007
This poured a deep, clear chestnut body with the slenderest of off-white heads. The aroma had plenty of Bourbon and was intensely sweet with dark caramel, the booziness working to keep that sweetness in check. It had a sweet cookie flavor, a lesser amount of Bourbon, and a touch of coconut in the flavor. This pushed the limit on endurable sweetness yet remained a warming drinkable brew.CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 18, 2007

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours a transparent dark amber mahogany with a wispy dark tan head. Sweet dark caramel malty aroma has some oaky bourbon notes. Body starts with a big sweet dark caramel and German maltiness and good balance of rich oaky bourbon toward a full slightly warming finish. A nice barrel-aged brew. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2007
On tap at FoBAB ’07. Light red amber, no head. Doughy aroma, fruity, slight bourbon, slight caramel. Doughy cookie flavor, fruity. Thin to medium body, watery. Great.

On tap at FoBAB 5. This beer poured a semi-translucent brown with a thin ring of lasting foam. The aroma of the beer included strong bourbon notes along with some oak and vanilla. A touch of caramel as well. The flavor was almost like taking a pint of doppelbock and dumping a hefty shot of Jack Daniels in it. Very boozey. The mouthfeel was a bit oily and medium-bodied with very light carbonation. This was an interesting brew that I would like to try again. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - NOV 9, 2007
FoBaB ’07. Heavy bourbon aroma; sweet. Not overly unique but nails the style. Clear, dark red with a lasting tan head. Excellent lace. Sweet caramel. Undercarbonated. Overly sweet. Good, though. Nice, comforting finish. Oaky and bourbony. Very nice. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 9, 2007
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2007 FOBAB ’07.....appearance: clear, almost see-through toffee brown with very little head....aroma: this one smacks you in the face with a bourbon thunder. some vanilla in there in an attempt to offset it but to no avail. a little too busy for my liking....taste: strong on the bourbon but mellows out after it warms up a little but still a little too assertive on this front. caramel and vanilla to follow. very sugary and sweet. didn’t dig this one too much. sersdf (1020) - chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2007
FoBAB 2007. super sweet w/o being saccharine. mellifluous. Great balance. seamless coconut/chocolate. i remember telling everybody during the last 2 hours of the festival this was my pick. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2007
On tap at FoBAB 2007. Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, and oak. Sweet flavors. More caramel and brown sugar with vanilla, chocolate, and alcohol. Too sweet for me. None too impressive.
