4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2009 16 oz can from Crystal Liquore Barrel. Cloudy yellow color, foamy white head that quickly dissipated. Wheat, yeast aroma with a hint of citrus. Wheat flavor with a slight hoppy note, lingering tangy finish. I enjoyed this much more than I did at the brewery tour. It stands up much better alone than in a lineup.
Great IPA, wonderful aroma and color. Easy to drink. Slightly bitter but not too hoppy

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2017 Light orange pour. Light yeasty aromas. Taste is nicely balanced between hops, fruit and peppery notes. Really good saison glennmastrange (2884) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 21, 2017
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2017 Bottle. Moderate grain and cereal for the malt, light herbs and flowers for the hops, light dried leaves for the yeast, with ripe pear, sugar and honey in the background. Head is small to average, frothy, white, with some spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is slightly hazy medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, slick, with a lively carbonation. A bit sweet for a typical Saison but it?s still a nice drinking beer. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2017
From a can: pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with white head. Smells like a hefe, banana, clove, light fruit, and wheat on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with more light fruit. TH28 (464) - - MAR 11, 2017
16oz can. 2/8/17 can date. Appearance: Golden and lightly hazy, with a low lying white foam head.
Aroma: Strong banana and Clive, reminiscent of a German weizen yeast. A touch of pear as well, but I don’t pick up any pepper as I would expect.
Taste: Starts with a punch of aggressive clove phenols that is almost cloying, and an underlying bready, wheat maltiness. Light pear and a touch of pepper on the back end with an abrupt, moderately strong bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a touch of creaminess and a low to moderate carbonation.
Finish: Lots of clove and banana linger, with a surprisingly strong bitterness.
Overall: An interesting take on a saison, with yeast character much more suggestive of a weizen than a saison. Clove is a bit too aggressive, and the peppery character is barely discernible. That said, this beer is still very good, with a nice creaminess to the body

16oz can. Pours a golden color with small tan head and average carbonation. Spicy aroma with fruity notes along with some malt. Mostly sweet flavor with a bit of spiciness, apricot and other fruits. Medium bodied with mostly spicy finish. Pretty good. ContemplateBeer (2089) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 29, 2017
Pint can from Rob G.; shared with Boo; canned 8/5/16. Aroma: Moderate honey with gum yeast in near balance; lighter pepper/peach hop notes. Appearance: Slightly hazy gold with lively carbonation holding up a foamy white head that settles into a patchy ring. Flavor: Honeyed hay and gum up front; peppery hops throughout, but definitely more noticeable towards the finish, which is at once fruity yet semi-dry. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Very happy with this all around; I’d be quite happy to have a locally brewed Saison at this quality/price level (around $10 for 4 pint cans in MN, I’ve heard). superspak (5691) - Michigan, USA - DEC 23, 2016
Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/6/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, light clove, biscuit, light honey/toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, light clove, biscuit, light honey/toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and light herbal hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, apple, peppercorn, biscuit, light honey/toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from yeast spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/creamy/sticky, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a great saison. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp/clean to drink. A bit on the malty side for the style; but still stays spicy/drying enough to feel like a saison. A very enjoyable offering. Ronritter (786) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2016
Poured from can nice fluffy head ample lacing golden color, taste is sweet and malt with a little bitter finish very gulpable. zoucrew102 (1925) - - NOV 19, 2016
Pint can. Spicy Belgian yeast aroma with notes of pepper, clove, floral hops, apricot and peach. Pours clear golden colored with one finger of off white head that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with spicy Belgian yeast and clove flavors with a good amount of pepper as well. Finishes smooth and dry with sweet apricot and peach flavors as well as some floral hops. Pretty good saison.
