5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle from Chad. Thanks. I have wanted to try this one for several years, and thank God I finally got the chance two nights ago. This one pours out black with a fat brown head on it. The smell is just out of this world. It smells like a double IPA fresh off the line with a huge amount of chocolate and coffee infused into it. The taste is really good, very sweet, full of coffee and chocolate and of course a very healthy dose of these hops. This beer is very unique, almost sessionable. The best beer I have drank in several years, hands down. I always thought I would never give a second 5 rating, but I believe I have to make an exception. The smell on this beer is perfect, so is the taste, the beer does wonders to the palate because it is not too thick and not too thin, and the enjoyment factor is off the chart. This is a perfect beer in my eyes.
Bottled, I think it was a 2014. Dark pour, little head, the cherry comes through quite a bit. mephisto (1298) - TAIWAN - NOV 29, 2017
Draft at the brewery. Pitch black, actually pretty easy drinking. Pairs great with smoked chicken. Terminus (3721) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 28, 2017
Bottle-thanks to one of my great friends (not a ratebeer guy) for trading me this amazing brew. pours pitch black with huge viscus legs and a nice tan somewhat fizzy head for the style. Nose is all char, dark chocolate, anise, lite "young-ness" to it and i dont mean that in a green way. flavors exhibit heaps of dark choolate, char, roast, anise, vanilla, lite smoke, it has it all for sure. My only gripe with this one is that it maybe a tad on the hot side, but again, its a young beer, It is 12% for this year, which is a huge jump at least according to the previous years listed for this brew. Gives it a little tingle on the finish after the massive flavors have settled away. Well, this would be an insane beer to have on some type of barrel. I am sort of over the barrel thing but for this beer, it would work so well. "fingers crossed" Surly makes a barrel aged version of this. BlazerT (1280) - Sosnowiec, POLAND - NOV 22, 2017
Rocznik 2013. Fajne, mnóstwo suszonych owoców, sos czekoladowy, dżem wiśniowy, gładkie, słodkie, później trochę zrównoważone goryczką. Alkohol praktycznie niewyczuwalny. Gładkie, pijalne i kremowe. Beerowulf (134) - , Indiana, USA - NOV 17, 2017
Bomber into snifter. Medium lacing. Aroma of licorice and chocolate and tastes of those as well. Very smooth. A bit of raisin in the finish and then cherry as it warms. No hint of the 12% at all. Lives up to the hype.

2012 Bottle from my 2014 Secret Santa, finally opened at a share. Pours black, with a quick, bubbly, beige head. The nose is striking and assertive. Milk chocolate, maple syrup, basil, caramel, bread, and vanilla. Very sweet flavor, with a relatively heavy bitterness, making it startlingly balanced. Very heavy body, with a smooth, effervescent, sharp, and thick mouthfeel. This is an amazingly well done stout. Tons of character, and great balance. The years seem to have been very friendly.
