If you’re surprised that I love this beer, you probably don’t know me very well. Awesome crackery pilsner malt character with refreshing grassy hop character? Sign me up for a billion, and I could actually drink a billion because this is extremely easy to down. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2009
Straw gold with big, foamy white head / Nose of lemon, grain and spice / Light to medium body, some tartness and sweetness, creamy and resinous, with good balance and fine, bitter, finish / Flavors of lemon, apple, hay, and dry hops / Outstanding. Pastor (799) - Skowhegan, Maine, USA - SEP 26, 2010
Thanks to Scoobydank for this one. I love a good German lager and this was one. Easy to drink refreshing to experience and pretty to look at, that about sums it up.
The can poured into a Sam Adams glass produced a great white head that lasted on top of a clear golden yellow body with plenty of bubbles rising from the glass. The aroma’s were the perfect mix of malts yeast and lemony hops. The flavor mimicked the nose but being light and crisp as well
A great summer brew glad I got to experience it

Sweet. Hoppy. Light. SO DRINKABLE. You could "session the shit out of this" - Katie Burk. Such like drink ability. Only slight hoppy bitterness. Sweet sweetness. So good. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - DEC 22, 2014
Easily one of the best lagers I’ve had. Incredibly, incredibly flavorful. And at a session ABV.

Hell yes. Wow, did I really have to do that? Of course I did. While this beer is certainly lighter-bodied and more simplistic than other Surly beers, that doesn’t mean it’s lower quality. Not at all. Hell has a beautiful bread-like lager yeast aroma with clean hops. Flavor has that too but with a clean feel and some refreshing crispness from the hops. This is the type of beer I would take (and drink) anywhere right from the can. ads135 (4607) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - SEP 6, 2016
Right up there with Dortmunder Gold as my favorite Helles from the Great Lakes region. Malty and medium bodied. Perhaps a bit too hop forward, but the balance is pretty spot on regardless. Great session beer. Tried at the Homy Inn in 2016. pmccallum86 (1) - Savage, USA - JUL 22, 2010 does not count
Pours a really nice golden yellow straw color with a nice earthy aroma in the nose. Very nice tasting beer, a little lighter and less exciting than what you have come to expect from Surly, but very good. Tastes very similar to a pilsner. Light in body but very tasty, I am a fan. bhiner41 (189) - Darien, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Easily the most drinkable Surly offering. Light in color but complex in flavor with subtle hoppy notes. Similar to most American lagers in color and taste. branallo09 (3) - - JUL 1, 2012 does not count
Fresh grass, vanilla, floral, excellent summer beer. Very very smooth to drink. Good beer.
