COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pre-Prohibition American Lager. Occasional Kegs. Light gold in color, #Merica! is an old-school pre-Prohibition American Lager that was brewed in 2015 for the Annual D4th of July party put on by the Minneapolis-based punk band Dillinger Four. One of the only beer styles truly born in the U.S.A, pre-Prohibition American Lagers used corn as an integral part of the flavor profile, rather than as a simple substitute for barley malt. The flaked corn used in #Merica! comes across as a subtle, fresh corn flavor, while soft hop aromatics come from Warrior and Willamette hops, which add a mild fruity, herbal character that stays in the background. #Merica! is perfect for a hot summer day and celebrating the country’s birthday and 21 years of Dillinger Four.

16 oz can from Hy Vee Wine & Spirits - Urbandale. Clear golden appearance with a slight haze, a white head and light lacing. Aroma of toasted grain and light hops. Similar flavor, adding mild malt sweetness and a touch of hop bitterness. Smooth and clean on the palate. Refreshing and easy to drink overall.

Clear yellow pour with a frothy white head. The aroma has malty grains with some mild earthy hops. It has a light body with crisp texture and lively carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a dry finish.

16floz can, COD: 05.10.2017, ~$1.75 unit cost (mix-six), pint glass. Appears a very pale yellow with thin fizzy layer of head. Lemon-herb aroma translates to a moderately bitter lager with a medium-light body. This beer is ok, but I don’t think per-prohibition lagers had such a medicinal hoppiness that cover up base malt and corn adjuncts. I’ll for Surly’s Hell before going for this one again.

Can Pours slightly hazy straw yellow hue with a small foamy and spritzy head with vigorous carbonation. Nose is spicy, light metallic notes, lots of grain/grass. Flavors are lite crisp quite a bit of spicy hops and some nice hay/grass notes. A quite flavorful brew, much like the recent release from the local brewery Urban Chestnut (urban underdog). Long spicy finish with some hints of sweetness and lingering spicy hops. A great hot weather brew!

Can. It poured a clear straw yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grass and fruity with lemon and floral notes. There is a light bitterness to it. Overall it is a good lager.

Pour is a hazy blond with a large white head. Aroma is a decent, spicy bitter hop with some adjunct sweetness. Flavor is a clean lager malt but none of the hops show up. There is a bitterness after the swallow but it is very minimal. Very clean and refreshing but kind of lacking in flavor.
