Its been said; "Its easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surlys a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, its just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Clear golden-yellow with plenty of carbonation and a large, spongy head. Aroma is vegetable garden, citrus, flowers. Taste is sweet then hoppy; not like candy, more like a subtly-sweetened soda; hops flavors are mostly pine and floral, not very bitter. Smooth body, dry finish. Not as overwhelmingly huge as a lot of West coast IPAs.

Aroma is mangoes/pomegranate, citrus and a hint of Belgian sugar. The flavor is citrus, mangoes/pomegranate, fruit, mild hop resin, malts and a mix of bitter and pine needles in the finish.

Hazy gold pour with some tiny dark floaties and a two finger, fluffy off white head. Aroma is candy citrus, a little toast, tree fruit, a hint of pine and some light floral notes. Flavor is slightly sweet, toasty malt up front, then some sweet orange, turning into a sort of Five-Alive citrus punch-like citrus note, a little biscuit, some fruity floral and light pine, the juicy citrus notes definitely own this one. Light to medium body, creamy to juicy feel, light, blanketing, somewhat sharp carbonation and more dry, but still pretty juicy finish, with a decent hop acid bite. It has a really awesomely well suited feel. The whole thing feels a bit like orange juice with carbonation. Really good stuff overall, solid hop notes, could stand to be a little stronger though.

Look: pours a yellow color. Very clear. Bright white head. Smell: grapefruit. Dank. Cat pee. Slightly floral. Taste: grapefruit. Cat pee. Feel: very dry. Medium high carbonation. Leaves a thick film on the mouth. Overall: great beer. Well done west ipa. Not overly hyped in my opinion. First drank: home 3/11/15 Vintage: 2/23/15

Lightly hazed gold, yeast bits. Foamy froth, light lace. Subtle but somewhat pungent kind of fruit floral.Sweet, light sweet malts a little breadyness. Taste is somewhat soft,mildly/medium sweet with light caramel malt, bready malts, almost wheaty, carapils dextrin or wheat malt. Fruit, citrus, ripe green grassy hops, mild grapefruit bitter. Pretty good ipa, my favorate abv, but drinks lighter than its abv. I like about everthing in this as an ipa, overall but its a bit tame maybe or kinda in the middle as an ipa or above average. Pretty good go to ipa, and so far probably my favorate of Surly so far, going by my rating that isnt saying a whole lot though.

Beer pours light and golden, with a nice white head that is retained well. Aromas of pine and grapefruit come through on the nose. Taste is light and refreshing, with pine, grapefruit and other citrus flavors easily coming through. Finishes bitter and dry, very much like a grapefruit would, which invites you back for the next sip. Very good representation of the West Coast IPA style!

Pale cloudy citrusy well balanced smooth and crisp offering. Hops bite on the aftertaste and finish with a dry bitterness. Very drinkable and wouldnt mind grabbing another in trade to toss down. Cheers!

Can: Hazy brown-amber with a small, off-white head. Orange, mango scent. Sweet tropical, orange-peel bitter taste. Slightly oily.... Very pleasant sweet to bitter mix.... Really good.
