COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2016 Pounder: Honeycomb, soil, caramel, pine needle nose, some ash. Hazy amber, medium yellow head. Honey and lemon, tea and lemongrass highlights. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice malt bill and tasty beer, but it’s way more like the mythical east coast style IPA than west coast style.

On tap at the brewery. Yellow pour with a white head. Citrusy hop bouquet. Taste follows suit. Well balanced and easy sipping. Loads of caramel malts smoothness.

I thought this would be far more piney than it is, but its mostly citrus hops. Pours clear orange, thick wheat head, sweet bready base.

Aroma - pine, floral, and herbal hops over caramel. Appearance - the body starts as a clean amber body - and changes to a haze later. There is a very good nucleation. The head is 2+" and off-white. Solid lacing. Taste - has abundant pine, herbal, and floral hops well balanced over a caramel malt. Palate - medium body, oily feel, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish.

Old, stale, malty. Unfortunately, this was given to me a little late, but the remnants are there. I can still drink it, but it’s almost not a fair rating. I wonder what it’s like at 30 days and not 110?
