COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been said; "It’s easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly’s a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it’s just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Hazy orange color out of the can with a sticky white head. Big nose of hop resin and citrus. Lots of caramel sweetness and bread dough with a ton of candied grapefruit, pine, hop resin and marmalade on toast. Tasty if now standard big juicy hop beer.

Lightly hazy yellow orange pour with a nice white head. Great lacing. Aroma is dank, grapefruit zest, some caramel, and lightly floral. Taste us pine, dank, grapefruit, and light caramel sweetness. Clean bitterness. Dry finish. Light-medium body. Nice beer.

Strong dominant Cascade/Centennial hop flavor. Grapefruit. Quite balanced body, with lasting bitterness. Dry and sourdough bready. Very solid IPA. Underrated. Thx Malster85

A safe IPA for people who like IPAs but not overly complex or hoppy. Sits nicely at first but a one-dimensional after taste that actually has a dirt-like taste. That said, it's solid just not ass-kicking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gotta love a brewery with some self-awareness. While brewing Overrated, Surly planted their tongues firmly in their cheeks and set the dials to hop-forward. Don’t let the self-deprecating humor fool you. Overrated has serious class. Yes, hops rule the balance, but there are nuanced touches of nectar, juice, and bread. In fact, you may be surprised if you approach this like a typical West Coast Style IPA. Try it for the joke and stay for the deliciousness.
