Cloudy reddish/brown pour with a super thin head that hangs around the edge of the glass. Aroma is tart, some berries & cherries with a little oak. Mouth is light, but the taste is pretty complex. I'm getting some barrel, fruits, a little hay, some whiskey, vanilla, cherries & a little wine. Dry finish.

On tap at brewery. Aromas of sour lemon, red wine, cherries, whisky, leather. Tastes like it smells...sour, woody, boozy. A beautiful combination.

AWISLguy (3481) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 23, 2017
On tap at ABV Social in Wauwatosa. Unclear muddy brownish pour. Excellent sweet & sour nose; cherry, oak, other berries. Taste is of tangy oak, tart stone fruits led by the cherry, sweet barrel. The nose is so strongly wild, while the taste brings the barrel sweetness more into play. Both well done. Finishes tangy sour, slightly yeasty farmhouse-y, along with barrel. Very enjoyable. 16.9

Bottled purchased at Beertopia, Omaha, NE. Gold wax, Bottled date of 06/27/16. Deep brown with ruby highlights around the edges. Aroma is mild red wine, mild funky oak, light whiskey. Flavors whiskey right up front turning into a Bretty funk in the center. Red wine rounds out the flavors in the finish. Also has a little bit of astringent oak. Bold and funky.

Sampled from the tap at the 2017 Minnesota Winterfest. Pours a near clear deep amber with a tan had that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sour red fruits, some acid and a backbone of earthy grains and a barrel. Flavor is full of very sour stone fruits, a bit of acid and some earthy grains and barrel supporting.

On tap at Denver Rare Beer Tasting 8. Pours a cloudy brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong wood, cherry, whiskey. Medium body, sour fruit, oak, whiskey, nice tartness, very good.

3.9
tmoreau (4805) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 1, 2017
Shared gold waxed, 750 ml. bottle poured to a snifter, showing a cloudy, brownish amber color, with a presentable layer of tan head foam, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose was subtle funk, tartness, caramel, dried fruit, spice, with hints of barrel, and induced vanilla. Medium+ bodied, with like notes, the tartness continued in the flavor, along with some malty sweetness, and a touch of warmth. Subdued vinous acridity and mellowed, earthy bitterness made this smoother and much more appealing than the base brew, which was interestingly shared by the same crew a year and 1/2 ago.

thomashall (1604) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - DEC 8, 2016
Tap at Grizzley’s into the woods event. Dark copper pour with minimal head. Strong vinegar and whiskey aroma. Taste pretty much follows, aggresive up front with vinegar and wine barrels, decent finish. This is interesting and good.

dnstone (3931) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - OCT 10, 2016
Aroma has booze and a touch of vinegar and funk. Poured a copper-brownish with white head. Nice balsamic edge with some dull woody character; just the right amount of tartness. Outstanding. Notes: On tap at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting 8, GABF Week 2016.
