Tap at el Bait Shop, 2015 version. Deep brown body with a reddish hint at the edges. A thin khaki head. Malty sour cherry nose with some hay. A little funky. Taste is sour but very restrained. Caramel balance with some dry hay in the finish. Just the slightest note of medicinal character. Smooth lightly carbonated body. Nice.

From notes. This one was opened at the Beernanza at Guss house on May 28. This came from a 750 mL bottle. We opened a couple years next to one another, and I just rated the better one, I think it was the 2016. The pour is a dark orange color, which is weird for a dark sour, and its got a thin gray head that slowly fizzles off, just leaving the liquid there. This one is something else. The aroma is winey, with a little oakiness and some tart funkiness. Its like this thing is waiting for some fruit to get added and they forgot about it. Its really messy and not that great. There is a mustiness that I cant quite place either. The flavor is much of the same. Its like an oaky wine with some tart funk happening in it. I just dont understand the lure. The mustiness is present, and maybe its just leftover growth from the wine barrel, I dont really know. The mouth feel is decent. There is an oilier body, decently thick with a lighter carbonation and a woody, winey aftertaste. This one is just a mess from the start. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

750 ml bottle shared by someone in the group. Pours a dark cola like brown with a small beige head. The aroma has tart dark fruits, cherry, woody notes, dark caramel with some funk. The flavor has thick dark caramel, tart black cherry, wood, other dark fruits and some funk. The finish gets a bit soft which was somewhat disappointing. Still very good.

Tap into a snifter showing moderately filtered dark wine red with sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows a mix of brett funk and a strong red wine profile (think goose berry and boysenberry) The palate is moderately carbonated and light bodied. Bretty funk for an instant on the attack then afterwards, red wine tannins and dark berry flavors become very quickly apparent. Bitterness on the finish shows the same red wine flavor profile with bright oak also apparent in the background. Lightly tart, the finish also shows a drying tannic edge.

On tap at CBC 2016 - day 2. Sour and spicy, with notes of red fruit and grapes. Some brett notes perfectly integrated into the beer.

Tap @CBC16. Clear dark copper. Dark, sour aroma. Dark berries. Sweetish berry flavour and a good deal of sourness too. Blackberry and cherry perhaps. Nice.
