This Arcane Seal guards an enigmatic brew that is Funky, Dark, and Sour. If you choose to break the seal, you have been warned! 100% Brettanomyces dark beer fermented in stainless and aged in used red wine barrels. [ I added the last part about Brett and the tags, beofre it didn’t say anywhere that it’s a Brett beer! Alex, May 2014 ]

On tap @CBC13. Hazy brown with small beige head. Nose is sweet, sour, fruit, malt, wood and some citric acid. Taste is sour with some sweetness, malt, wood and sour fruits. Finish is sour and tart. Fresh and balanced impression, very nice beer Dangeruss (35) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2013
Had it on tap at Nomad World Pub. Nice aroma. Very good beer. Not sure if it is worth 20 a bottle but still a decent beer 77ships (10810) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 13, 2014
65 cl. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to Chris! Gorgeous waxed bottle. Spare rocky off-white head. Murky brown ruby. Molasses, lots of leather, oodles of wine, tobacco, vinegar, lactic, dark grapes, sour chocolate lactic vinous, cassis, thick lactic. Very interesting, reminds me very heavily of Surly Five, would be interesting to taste them side by side & see what the differences are. djroehler (290) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Pours dark reddish brown, thick cream head. Aroma of sour cherry, earthy barnyard funk. Medium body, light carbonation with up front acidity, sour cherries, light cheese, sweet malts that tail off in a Brett and tobacco finish.

Delicious sour beer!!! I only had a small taste at a beer share but would love to drink this again. Sour in the nose up front and following thru all day long in the flavor. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 5, 2014
Bomber at Jerry’s. Darker red-amber with light, whispy off-white head / Sour and tart nose of cherry, oak, caramel, brett / Light to medium body, moderately sour with some sweetness, acidic but with very nice balance, light bitterness on finish / Flavors of dark cherry, apple, caramel, straw, chrysanthemum, horse blanket, oak / A beautifully balance and restrained sour, with good complexity. Only knock is a preference for more pronounced funky, brett character. heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 20, 2016
Tap at el Bait Shop, 2015 version. Deep brown body with a reddish hint at the edges. A thin khaki head. Malty sour cherry nose with some hay. A little funky. Taste is sour but very restrained. Caramel balance with some dry hay in the finish. Just the slightest note of medicinal character. Smooth lightly carbonated body. Nice. BeerBeforeH20 (129) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Great dark caramel/brown/red color with a small dissipating head. Aroma of tart sour cherries with a backing of sweet malts. Taste really follows suit with the aroma, hits up front with tartness but has a rather smooth finish. I like this wild better than Surly 5, which had more of a dry finish reminiscent of a Cabernet dry red wine. Really glad I found a bottle of this! davey101 (751) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 3, 2013
2013 vintage into a stemmed tulip. Awesome glittery black waxed 750ml with a pretty crazy label. Thanks to Yamar68 for this huge want of mine!
A - Pours a dark, dark purple that borders on black. Two fingers of purple stained khaki foam. Great edging and super long retention and lacing.
S - Massive red wine barrel presence. Oak, vanilla, grape juice, cherries and some rich charred malts. Man does this smell like sour grape juice!
T - Tart cherries, vinous red wine, oak and vanilla, tobacco and some chocolate malts. Not overly funky, just incredibly tart and barrel heavy. Finishes with an odd mashup of smooth oak and sour fruit. Has that lactic twang that most Flanders brouns and reds demonstrate. Mouth feel is a bit lacking and watery.
O - This is a super odd beer. Very similar to a Flanders bruin but with red grapes replacing the dominant cherry notes. I really enjoyed this one.
