On tap at Joe’s Place in Iowa City. Arrived in a pint glass.
Appearance: A deep reddish-brown with coppery tones, capped with a somewhat beige head less than a finger thick, which dissipates rather quickly.
Smell: Caramel, toffee, some faint traces of oak, and a bit of walnut / pecan wafts out of the glass.
Taste: Superbly malty, this is a a festival of caramel and toffee, buoyed up by some notes of pecan and walnut. Here and there, slight traces of fruit appear, like a green apple. The finish is primarily toffee and nuts.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, on the light side of medium-bodied, and with just enough carbonation to not feel flat.
Overall: I enjoyed this dunkel. Will repeat. gopherfan99 (2012) - Minnesota, USA - AUG 30, 2015

Poured on tap red, amber, blush, smells of malt, spices, has a crispy/toasty note as well. Tastes of malt/toast, finishing clean and smooth with a pleasant warming aftertaste badgerben (5328) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUL 19, 2015
Dark brown color with a small head. Light malt aroma. Flavors of yeast and sweet malt. Somewhat buttery character. Gets yeastier as the pint goes. Nuffield (4199) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUN 5, 2015
I saw the ratings before I ordered it, and I should have trusted them: this is a fine but somewhat underwhelming beer. Some basic dunkel flavors, yeasty and bready, with good sweetness, but a thin flavor profile. I had some in my glass quite some time later, and then there was a nice fruity note hiding in there. Still, not especially enticing. Tap at brewpub.

Keg @ Surly. Deep reddish brown with a small head. Plenty of toffee and toasted brown bread on the nose. Nice toasty dry cocoa flavor. Plum and chocolate with a touch or orange. Easy drinking. Medium body, soft carbonation. AWISLguy (3327) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 15, 2015
Tap from the Firkin for the Surly Tap Takeover. Reddish brown pour with a orange head. Aroma has stone fruits, chocolate, light nut. Taste is of stone fruits, sweet fruits, some nut. A light barleywine? Also a bit of wine cooler to it. Not like any other dunkel I’ve had. 13.2 vikingguy (1106) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - APR 24, 2015
