Tap at New Bohemia. Bumped pint glass. No head at all. Strange. Copper color that looks quite unfiltered. Aroma is sugar and caramel. Taste has plenty of malt but doesn’t bring a lot of sweetness to the table. Little bit of burnt sugar at the end. Not a lot of balance but pretty tasty. Definitely not my favorite Surly option. jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - OCT 5, 2014

Tap - fair size foamy head, very nice medium amber color, malty and nutty aroma and flavor, fair earthy hop balance - pretty good overall

Copper amber in color... Aroma of German Munich and Vienna malts... Flavor is typical dunkel, some smoke and oak notes, lots of caramel... Mouthfeel is crisp lager... Solid, nothing super exciting

Pours a reddish brown with a big fluffy off white head that leaves some lacing on the glass.
Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and woody up front. It’s lightly chocolaty, mildly fruity, and clean smelling.
The flavor is malt forward, mildly roasty, softly bitter and only lightly sweet. The beer has flavors reminiscent of chocolate, toffee, nuttiness and red apple. The oak is very mild but noticeable and well complimented to the overall flavor of the beer.
Lightly cloudy reddish brown, light white head. Smells of a light funkiness, some vanilla, earthy, musty. A little slight bitter bite upfront that slowly mellows into a pleasant sweetness. Medium light body, slightly effervescent, bit of carbonation. Very drinkable, interesting.

Pours a dark copper-brown with small, lingering head. Aroma of malt, bread, caramel. Flavor was very smooth, with the oak quite distinct, along with a lot of sweet malt, caramel, coffee, etc.
