Had this on tap at Darkness Day right at the brewery. More smokiness than I expected, but great beer. Just tough to drink it right after Darkness... DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Sampled at ABR. So. Much. Smoke. Holy cow, I love smokey stuff so I love this beer! Scipio (1079) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2015
Pours black with a very minimal khaki head. There is a heavy smoky aroma that is complimented with coffee, licorice, chocolate, and hints of alcohol. The taste is focused more on chocolate, with some undertones of and alcohol, smoke, and earthy malts. Aftertaste is light, though it lasts a bit, and is a woody smoke. This one is medium in body, has a texture that feels a bit flat, and has softer carbonation. For a style I usually enjoy, I have to say I’m disappointed. I expected more. ajm (1072) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 29, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2008 A great smoked flavor that only Aecht can beat, but all in all just a bit small to miss the higher rankings. gkost (1069) - Alaska, USA - MAY 29, 2010
POurs dark brown. Nose is heavy smoke, bacon, roasted grain, burnt coffee. Flavor is rich smoke, flavorful as all hell. Most smoke beers are over the top rauch malt, but this absolutely beautiful.

Bottle shared by Mike. Thanks! Pours cola like where its black and you can see through it. Light tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, smoke, and some dark fruit. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and is really smooth and tasty. Great beer! Getbetter (1033) - East Palo Alto, California, USA - MAY 12, 2015
From a bottle into a glass. The pour is a dark ruby red with no head. The body is thin body with a raisins, bacon, slight salty taste. It’s good. phredrik (1024) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - NOV 30, 2011
Bottle shared by Rasmusott - been wanting to try this for quite a while, so it’s really cool to finally try it, although it did disappoint. Pours black with a red hue, not really head on this. Aroma is smokey, wood, dark berries, earthy mineral notes in the lines of the smokey component, blackberry jam, notes of pepper and cinnamon, liquorice, raisins and prunes. Rather nice aroma, although the smoke is a bit off with the earthy character. The taste resembles the smoke from the nose with these earthy mineral notes, which are kind of off. Chocolate notes, prunes, raisins, slightly woody, but nowhere near as complex as the aroma. The lager yeast makes the mouthfeel surprisingly light, and the carbonation is very mild, could use a bit more. Glad to have tried it. ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JAN 23, 2011
750ml, silver waxed bottle, 2010 edition courtesy of stbroome on BA. thanks, steve! pours a deep, dark brown with an interestingly light khaki head with sticky lacing. aroma is great with big, smoked, ashy malts and salty bacon that by no means overpower the other aromas of roasted almonds, caramel, and dark fruit notes of cherry and fig with hints of coffee, and oaked vanilla as it warms. flavor is delicious as well with smooth, smokey campfire, roasted malts, and dark chocolate backed by notes of charred salami, sweet vanilla, and dark fruits with dry, piney hops, trail mix, and oak on the back end. palate is medium bodied with light carbonation and no trace of alcohol making this one extremely drinkable.overall, a delicious smoked baltic porter. sersdf (1020) - chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2007
FoBAB well, better than the Aechtliner urbock stuff, heh. Pretty alright. not a big fan. smoother, milkier, less bacon. all smoke. didnt realize till later this was a ’baltic porter’.
