4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of citrus, funk, resin, pine. Not getting too much of the cat pee. The flavor is awesome. A perfect balance between the earthy, funky, tanginess of the brett, and the citrus/pine bitterness of the hops. When I heard "imperial brett IPA" I expected something extreme, and in all likelihood, challenging to drink, but this is a balanced, refreshing, drinkable, and delicious beer. Would love to see more of this one in the future.
Pour on tap at Darkness Day 2012, hazy golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big mango, tropical fruit, pine, orange into some cat pee, touch of simcoe hops into a bit of oak, slight yeasty, bready notes as well. Taste was a mix of earth, cat pee, orange, grapefruit into a bit of yeast, bread, nice pine, resinous, some tropical fruit, finishing bitter. teddybeer (4109) - Madrid, SPAIN - DEC 18, 2013
Golden colour with a white head with good duration.Aroma has notes of fruits, light acidic and pine notes. Flavor has a decent bitterness, light acidic, notes of yeast and fruits. Bittery final with a good Brettanomyces mouthfeel, also some fruity notes are present. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - SEP 20, 2013
Draft at Butcher & the Boar. Not sure what the difference is between this version and the other. Didn’t get the cat pee in the nose, which is probably good. Got some hop in the nose, which was a bit of a pleasant surprise given that I expected the beer to be more saisony. This beer completely reminds me of Bells Experimental Hop 2012-2, which I still think is one of the most perfect beers I’ve ever had. Somewhat sweet, with hops and brett. Really quite perfect! Tap at Pizza Lucé. Amber with a thin white head, left lacing on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, yeast, strangely an ammonia like smell like old cat urine, and light honey. Taste is dryly bitter all the way through. Body is heavier with a soapy feel. Name of beer was fun to order and tasted better than it smelled, but don’t know that I’d ever get it again. cards04 (2917) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - AUG 31, 2013
True to character. Smells dank and pissy. I like it. Flavours of smoked meat and pepper and dank hops. Quite good.

Draught at the Surly Taproom. Simcoe right away, and just right.. Also some chlorine or other chemical. Golden yellow, no head. Good balance from the beginning / fruity mid, with something like celery / good bitterness in final, and it hangs on for quite some time. Medium-heavy body. Very nice stuff. Good, somewhat harsh, bittering from mid onwards. JK (6280) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - AUG 25, 2013
All Pints North 2013. Gold color. Heavily hopped, with tons of hops in the aroma and the flavor. Pine and citrus aromas, and bitter, flavor with more hops. The malt takes a back seat. burgy (460) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - AUG 22, 2013
(on tap at Republic) aromatics start off like a typical IPA and had a lot of grapefruit and citrus notes. Appearance is golden with a nice fluffy head. Taste is awesomely unique, first drink is pretty typical IPA, second drag brings a lot of the Brett and funk to the front and it lingers a long time. Palate is refreshing and trick. Really nice and interesting take on an IPA! sthlm (790) - Blank, Alabama, USA - AUG 19, 2013
[On-tap at Republic] Pours amber with a white head that leaves great lacing. Aroma has nice fruitiness with some honey sweetness and lychee (Guerde identified that). The taste has a little papaya, with well-integrated malt. Alcohol is beautifully hidden. Lingering bitterness, slight rounded spiciness, and a hint of play-dough. Medium mouthfeel, smooth, with a long, dry finish. Really nice beer. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - AUG 18, 2013
(on tap at Republic) Pours a clear gold color with a thin white head. Strong aroma of lychee with a lighter aroma of strawberry is immediately perceptible, while a nice undertone of earth and mushroom creates another nice layer. The flavor holds a good amount of pineapple, lychee, some sausage spices, and stone fruit (apricot?) with further warming. The finish is fairly bitter, but not overly so, which creates a nice resinous drying effect to counterbalance the sweetness in the fore. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is toned down. ABV is imperceptible. Overall this is a pretty solid beer that I’d like to try again.
