Tap at Bankan. Pours a hazy deep brown with a small head. Dark chocolate aromas with a weird chalky, sweet aroma that lingers. Dark fruit and bitter hoppiness on the palate. More roasted cacao nib. Feels a little one-dimensional. mrjez (752) - Osaka, JAPAN - SEP 16, 2016
Tap at Marciero. They’ve done well with this version. Near black pour, herbal hop aroma with roast. Flavour is similar, not terribly complex but roasty and herbal pine, moderately bitter, like a tamer Kaiju Behemoth. Good medium mouthfeel, solid from start to finish. On tap at the Ushitora Brewery restaurant/bar. Solid example of a Black IPA. Roasted grains dominate the taste, not too much hop notes, well balanced. A bit of heat given the high 8.0% ABV but still very drinkable.
