12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Clear vibrant gold, thin fizzy white head, fair retention. Aroma of grainy malt, grassy hops. The taste is grainy malt, a bit of dough, grassy hops. Thin bodied, lingering bitterness, decent. Dacrza (980) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JUL 10, 2015
Date: July 10, 2015... Glassware: 22 oz. pilsner... Occasion: craftbrew showdown--Susquehanna Goldencold vs. Victory Helles... Appearance: clear, golden body with steady but sparse effervescence; white head is spongy, with large gaps separating as it settles; the final formation is thin, solid and likable .... Aroma: hay and cereal malts begin the profile; bubblegum and soft floral aromas suggest a lightly hopped offering; some grainy, blanketed scents are also present.... Palate: a bit south of medium-bodied, but slightly weightier than soft; the rush to the throat is obvious, but the frontal fizziness is appreciated; the aftertaste lingers long enough to be enjoyed; a slight bitterness draws a subtle balance... Taste: a balanced approach here, with the sweet and bitter in a light-footed dance that doesn’t inspire or detract from the experience-- slightly metallic hops, slightly doughy finish; some spice and variation late; a bit beefier than the Victory Helles... Overall: a lager that knows what it’s intended to do, and it fulfills its promise of thirst-quenching without fanfare; picked up at a make-a-six at Wegman’s, and happy for it; will not win any awards, IMO, but will make an afternoon more enjoyable, for certain... beerbomb (228) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2015
as far as a pale lager goes, this is decent, but pretty boring overall -- resembles a cheap german pilsner--aroma light skunky/grassy hops, stale bread/honey/yeast. flavor is fairly smooth and creamy, but light - crackery malts, faint floral/grassy hops, honeycomb, grain, clean bready finish, if a bit tart. pretty much as advertised. if pale lagers are your thing, this will do fine, otherwise, the action is elsewhere... Pours light golden amber with frothy white head. Aroma of hay and spruce. Light body, thin texture, soft carbonation. Astringent finish. Tastes a little skunk to me. Not a great beer. pet3rman (375) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2015
Bottle: Pours light gold/yellow with light white head. Some lacing. Aroma is corn and malt. Flavors has a soapy quality that is off-putting. Slight bitterness at finish. I’ll pass next time.
FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2015
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly hazy bright golden color with a meidum sized soapy white head ath left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweet, corny, a bit of citrus and egg white. The flavor was tangy, citric, sweet, yeasty and had a bit of grass and perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Not good. 60minuteman (1715) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2015
Bottle. Wheat backbone, backed with the hop then the malt then some spice and/or pine. Pretty light body, minimal alcohol feel and slight carbonation. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - OCT 5, 2014
12 oz. bottle. It pours a clear gold color with a small white head. The aroma has some sweet corn and malt with some spicy/floral hops. The flavor is bready with medium noble hop flavor and bitterness. A little acidity. Pretty quenching, tasty stuff. Well done. ganache (5903) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 26, 2014
Bottle. Nose is strongly citric and lemony with light grainy character and citric noble hops, pours clear pale golden with a fizzy and soapy off-white head. Taste is very sweet and malty, thin body only a step above watery, simple pale malt character is very repeatable, again lots of lemony character from the hops and very low bitterness, a touch out of balance there but erring on the side of moreishness. Light grass and a very faint touch of toast/biscuit. Mostly clean with a touch of grain, not very crisp and a touch oilier than anticipated. Have to give it to them, this is a massively "German" beer, I’ve had dozens of summertime lagers like this and the authenticity should not be questioned; I also think there’s a level of enjoyment here that the rating numbers just can’t hold. Brings back memories, and mostly good ones! N3lson1 (1005) - Long Valley, New Jersey, USA - JUL 16, 2014
Drank from a twelve ounce bottle. Barely any aroma. Very little taste. Bitter finish. Not a very good beer.
