10 ounce sample at the brewpub. Aroma is essentially not present. Served too cold. Maybe a light spicy hop character. Transparent copper colored body with a small, weak white head. Starts with a bready, nutty malt flavor. Some toast is also present. Finishes with a bit of an herbal, metallic hop flavor. This is more of an altbier than a California Common.
Tap at the brewpub. Pours translucent copper with a near white head. Aroma is lightly flora and citrus. Med body. Flavor is floral, fruit and slightly roasty malt. Well balanced and tasty. Maybe a bit more fruit than Anchor Steam. Or not. Quite nice. Seems to develop a touch of leather/tobacco over time.
