Draft at the BP. Pours a deep dark brown color with a creamy tan head. Sweet and vibrant aroma of bourbon barrel and light spice. Anise? Tastes sweet with a minimal dark chocolate type bitterness… some barrel notes and light spice. Just a faint note of cinnamon. Maybe it was the thought of ‘nog’ that set the expectation of a thicker offering, but this was a little on the thin side. Good flavors throughout. Draft sample compliments of the bartender at the brewery. Pitch black pour with a tan ring. Huge aroma of bourbon, rum, cocoa powder and black molasses. Big boozy flavor that warms the back of your throat with sweetened rum and bourbon. Wow thats tasty but also big. Definitely a sipper. bhensonb (16381) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 11, 2015
Tap at the brewpub. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of xmas spices, but not rosemary. Med to full bodied. It seemed to change with time. Flavor is xmas spices, but not rosemary; there’s some chocolate and dark malt. It’s a little earthy, has chocolate running thru it, some sort of evergreen - not "super heavy" on any flavor; doesn’t seem heavily hopped. Finishing less than dry. It’s really pretty good; made me think of the annual Anchor product.
