(Rating #7270)

Backlog. On premise. Hazy amber with a small persistent off-white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is, as the name suggest, of leathery brettanomyces alongside mineral notes, soft caramel-ish malts, peppery notes and nuts. Taste is also of leathery brettanomyces, herbal notes, mineral/earthy notes, nutty notes, mild caramel presence and very little bitterness. Light body. Medium-high carbonation. Mineral and leathery finish. Not the cleanest flavor profile especially considering what Sutton can do but still an easy drinking leather forward brett beer.

My Bottom Line:
Brettanomyces, herbal hops and nutty caramel swirl about in this yeasty creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the cloudy reddish brown.
-Flavors aren’t as well defined as the usual Sutton, Auval or Moulin 7 beers.
-Hops are pretty salient throughout, though not entirely harmonious with the malt and yeast tandem.
-Effervescence is natural-feeling and comfy.

On tap at Vices et Versa.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2016 on tap at sutton brouerie, qc. cloudy dark golden, red tint, with a nice off-white cap, offering some retention and lacing. pickled wild strawberries, leathery bretts, very peppery, light pinot noir acidity, fragrant herbs, pepper, touch of smoke, minerals. healthy carbonation, light body, drying spicy-peppery finish. berry-red grape flavors in this intriguing woodsy brett concoction. enjoyed!

A hazed dark reddish amber ale with a thin lacing light mocha head . In aroma, nice sweet caramel malt with light vinous notes, light Brett, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light corky notes, light Brett, light lactic notes, woody character, nice and complex. On tap at IBU 2016.
