UPDATED: APR 4, 2007 One of the best beers I ever tasted. Taste and aroma of rich chocolat and coffee, great after dinner with a cup of coffee. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 28, 2004
Great chocolate aroma, butterscotch, toffee, sweet and silky. Awesome aroma. Hazy brown with thin head. Thin watery with low carbonation. Great chocolate toffee taste, Tootsie Roll, smooth. Some roasted bitter in finish and after, otherwise smooooith throughout. Nice beer. Zoney (144) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 13, 2010

One of the better beers, if you can handle the vanilla. Serve warm. skelo (35) - Kaunas, LITHUANIA - JUN 28, 2013

Bottled at the Chris_O Beer, Cheese and Curry powwow. Oh wow! A black beer with an off-white head. The aroma and taste is oh so chocolatey, but beautiful thick tasty chocolate. Sweet licquorice in the aroma also. If there’s a better chocolate beer out there bring it on!! Sumptuous.

bottle. dark brown, nice off white head, very chocolaty smell, very smooth beer that reminds me of chocolate milk. i like this beer a lot. omhper (25251) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 28, 2004
Bottled. Mahogany colour, rich head. Intense chocolate aroma. Sweet with loads of cocoa and a soft rounded mouthfeel. The chocolate flavour is simply awesome, but well strong. Regardless if it’s balanced or not I like it a lot... argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 28, 2005
(50cl bottle, best by 3/06) Clear dark red-brown body topped by a big tan head. Aroma is sweet, CHOCOLATE (they definitely are not kidding about it being a chocolate beer), specifically cocoa -- stronger chocolate aroma than I have ever experienced before, accented by cappuchino. Taste is sweet, strong cocoa, cappuchino. Smooth medium body. No real bitterness.

Ratings vary a goodly amount but it really boils down to this -- if the idea of a beer dessert appeals to you, this may be your dream beer. Otherwise, well, you have been warned. By way of comparison, this beer has DDC Aphrodisiaque beat aromawise, but Aphrodisiaque has a better taste.
Black colour. Large, thick head. The aroma is all sweet chocolate. The flavour is smooth chocolate then turns into a dryish, bitter finish. bridge (659) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 7, 2006
Poured a clear but opaque dark, dark ruby brown giving it a black appearance. Fairly large head with a lot of lace leaving rings down the side of the glass as I eagerly consumed it. Huge chocolate sauce aroma, reminding me of club bistro chocolate sundaes that came in stainless steel bowls. On drinking it revealed some nuttiness that then reminded me of drinking Mr Whippy chocolate thickshakes. Fairly dry, surprising for a sweet stout, but this just allowed it to slide down easily without cloying. Well balanced flavour, with the only negative being a rather light, thin body. Very tasty - thanks to highlandlad (via Papsoe) for the opportunity.
